The dark horse of the SEC this who you got: Oklahoma, Florida Auburn?

A lot of analysts are really loving Oklahoma, and some of the best are really high on Florida despite their brutal schedule, and Auburn used to always be good when they were supposed to suck. Or maybe you have Moo U or Ky.

None of those three. Absolutely not Kentucky or Clanga. My four playoff picks are Texas, Georgia, Alabama and Ole Miss. So, since everyone agrees on UGA, 'Bama and the Horns, I'd have to say OM would be my dark horse.
Today, Greg McElroy picked Texas and Alabama (surprise, surprise!) to go to Atlanta. He has LSU in the mix, and if the Tigers beat Clemson, they are. I also do not see Auburn making much progress in Year Three under Freeze.

Ole Miss lost way too much. Of those OU has the QB and best defense.

Kiffin>Venables. Portal additions and QB Austin Simmons equal a reload, not a rebuild for OM. Top Three Winning Teams since 2020: Georgia, Alabama, Ole Miss. Has Venables had a winning season yet?

Sadly, I believe it will be Auburn.

Venables won 10 games with Dillion Gabriel 2 years ago. I agree Kiffin is a better offensive coach but BV is a much better defensive coach. OU added Ben Arbuckle as OC and that is a huge upgrade and also got the top QB and top RB in the portal.

The only real issue we may have is the OL. We have talent on the OL but they have been injury prone. If we even have a serviceable OL, our team will be very good again this year. Simmons doesn't have Dart's experience but Simmons probably has more raw talent than Dart has.

Although I think Florida and Oklahoma are much MUCH better than them: the answer is probably Auburn due to the schedule.
Alabama at Home = JHV.
Alabama at Home = JHV.

I think OU is in the best position of the 3. Should have a good D. Improvement at QB and some luck over the tricky parts of their schedule could see the Sooners surprise.
Uf may be the toughest out of the 3, but they have a brutal schedule.
AU is a mystery. Always seem to surprise when the chips are down. We will see.

Understandable since you likely haven't been paying attention.

Not 1 team in the SEC would take Venables over Kiffin as their HC
It’s amazing how OU thinks Venables is Saban 2.0 and won’t say anything negative because “he’s one of them”. Nothing is ever his fault
Nobody is scared of a 21-17 coach that’s 0-3 in bowls

Oklahoma and Florida could meet in the SECCG.
Lot of people underestimating the wildcard that is the QB position.
A&M isn't getting mentioned at all either and they still have a roster full of talent going into year 2 with Elko. Their conference schedule is very navigable, getting MSU, Arkansas, Auburn, and Mizzou. All "predicted" to finish in the bottom half
I would really even consider any of those 3 dark horses. Just good football teams. Auburn hasn't had a winning season in like 5 years. They would qualify as a dark horse, but they aren't going to be good enough to win the league.

I'm taking UF. They got consistently better last year as the season went on and that's the sign of a well coached team. Their schedule is brutal again this year, but I look for them to be in every game they play barring an injury to Lagway. I wouldn't sleep on them and fully expect them to upset several teams.

Declaring that OU has the best QB and defense, even against second tier SEC schools, is based on pure preseason hype.
You're not in the Big 12 anymore. Now that you are in the SEC you are going to have to earn those bragging rights on the field.

Your new QB has played exactly zero snaps as an SEC starting QB and only played against three teams last year that finished with winning records (he played in 11 games). Your defense lost multiple NFL-caliber players from a unit that wasn't a top-25 caliber defense to begin with (PPG allowed). Idk what y'all are seeing, but proclaiming that Oklahoma has the best players at any position group ahead of the season is 100% based on feelings and not any statistical facts

They picked up 9 National Championships IN THE OFF SEASON. No small feat. Freeze is so good he doesn't even have to play a game to win NCs. Name me another coach who has matched that.
