Explain Texas A&M weirdness like I’m 5

Alright Aggie fans I’ve got questions.
I know every college football program has its quirks, but y’all at Texas A&M seem to have turned “weird traditions” into an Olympic sport. I’m talking about the midnight yell thing, the cadets in uniforms, and whatever that “kissing your date when the team scores” ritual is. And don’t get me started on the cult-like hand signs and “yell leaders” who look like they just finished basic training for cheer camp.
So educate me. What’s the full list of these maroon-colored oddities, and how do they explain them to new students without scaring them off? Do they hand you a pamphlet? A manual? And what is an Aggie and do you all have Jizz Jars?
Great school but weird traditions I can’t understand.

I never did understand why they have male cheerleaders. I get trying to be different, but damn.

Of al the weird things you could have lead with, you picked a big pep rally the night before the game, kissing girls and ROTC?

Your suppose to kiss your girl after ever score. And I know, you are wondering, “I’m a gator fan, so what if if I don’t go to games with girls, just the bros, can I kiss them?” Sure, knock yourself out. We would just high five them tho.

Why even go out your way to not have female cheerleaders. Like did Big Brother UT take all the good girls and leave Aggy with cows.

It's not our traditions they are yours. What do you tell me to start with rocking back and forth in the stands like the 12th man.

They get a lot of shite on here. I will vouge for the women at College Station though. There are honeys everywhere there. Don't be delusional about the women there. I've said it before. Boots and shorts look good there. And in all honesty, they're cool with visitors.

Are you talking about an alligator age at 5?

If you’re Aggie you love it and think everyone else is jealous of your traditions
Meanwhile you’re the butt of the joke to the rest of America.

You're probably not going to understand it if you're 5.

I enjoy being a LSU fan. Where our tradition is just tailgating, getting plastered, and then yelling our asses off.

It can’t be explained. You can’t understand it. None of them will ever be able to explain it to you.
Being an Aggie is like being gay - you either are, or you aren’t. There’s no “understanding” it.
Now before you jump to conclusions like most others here….and say that being an Aggie IS actually being gay - I don’t think so. But it’s a real easy mistake to make.
But I’m not gay, and I’m not an Aggie - so maybe gay and Aggie are the same thing.
But I DO know this — all Aggies are damn weird people. That’s about as much an Aggie can be understood by anyone that’s not an Aggie.
Hope that helps.

That sums it up. All I can tell is that I love A&M dearly. There is a unity bred by the counterculture that is beautiful to me. A&M is unique.

I think they best describe themselves as …. From some weird sense of pride…
“From the outside you can’t understand it, from the inside you can’t explain it”
And to everybody else, that’s the joke…

They have long standing traditions that they have no desire to change. I thought they were odd in 70s and they’re still the same today. I’ll have to say they are very consistent.
Don’t bend over in front of them though….haha

It’s a different college experience than anytown, USA.
And yes, Aggies embrace their roots. That is the point.
There were no cheerleaders at football games because it was an all male corps of cadets college for decades. I’m sure it will eventually change, but it’s held on to tradition longer than anyone else has.
You may feel weird about seeing the corps marching in…but it shows a sense of pride in honoring the past. But if you really just want generic marching bands and pom poms at the stadium, then go anywhere else.
But there are so many other traditions that bond Aggies together and show Aggies care about each other like a family. And the students love that about the school.

“A wide- ranging witness statement given by a female member of the corps told how each group of redpots fills a jar with ejaculate and sets it atop the stack to burn.”
“In 1993 a redpot was cited for bringing 53 beers to the stack site after midnight. Redpots had to know about the keg that the police found in 1996; their job is to know everything. Redpots knew that a
stripper was going to be smuggled into the cut site in 1997 and didn't stop it.”
Strippers and beer faction sounds better
