Who's a great player that your school passed on?

Who is someone that legit wanted to attend, but they got passed on for whatever reason? This can go for any sport.
One for Texas A&M football: Drew Brees. His parents were Ags and it was his dream to play for them. A junior year ACL injury combined with his smaller stature led to him not being recruited heavily. It's rumored that he reached out one last time via phone call, but Shawn Slocum never returned that call.

Denard Robinson comes to mind since we recruited him as a DB, haha, dumb. We kicked sCam Newton to the curb so he didn't get to be Tebow's heir apparent.

Despite his father being a head coach and playing his high school football in north Alabama, Philip Rivers was not recruited by Alabama as a QB. They wanted him to switch positions. So he went somewhere he had a chance at QB.

Whoever LSU lists, it’s a lie they weren’t passed on, they were stolen by Alabama

I don't know if he would have come. But we would have been in the hunt had we tried. We didn't.
Deshaun Watson.

It's kind of hard to recall guys that would have absolutely gone to your school if you didn't recruit them at all.
But one that might have gone to Bama is Roquan Smith. Kirby, working at Bama at the time, said Bama didn't go after him because he didn't fit what they wanted size wise at his position. And he initially committed to UCLA, so he wasn't locked in on UGA from the get go.

Same with Auburn. But Auburn had already signed Jason Campbell who was one of the top HS QBs in the country that year and didn't want to muddy those waters.
I think Bama had Tyler Watts on campus and Brodie Croyle early committed so they were kind of in the same boat. Not so much we don't think you're good enough just we've got a better option.

How did Justin Tuck get away from Auburn or Alabama for Notre Dame?

Yep.........Phillip Rivers is the one that stands out in my mind(because I remember it well). Bo was obviously a bigger miss but I was so young at the time....like 5 years old..

For OU the answer is Barry Sanders...
His father was a life long OU fan and Barry was OU's for the taking.
They showed only token interest.
The funny part of the story is that Barry's father William continued to root for OU against OSU saying...."I want Barry to do good... but I still want OU to win"...
Thus making William Sanders a legend among OU fans.
