Grant House should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell. Dude may kill more d1 swimming programs than title 9.

This is what has to happen for college football’s future. Teams were already skirting the rules with NIL and now it will all be out in the open.
Salary caps etc will be the new norm. Will be interesting to see though how this affects schools that can’t afford it.

It’s simple. Many non revenue sports will die at universities not rich. If you think the SEC schools are immune you’re sadly mistaken.

Plenty of lawsuits will test this settlement.

It’s going to be just like the NFL now. Roster limitations more so now than ever. Maintaining scholarships and salary will be based on performance on the field.
This is going to change everything so much it’s almost impossible to think of everything it’s going to affect.

It just proves that all they care about is money. We already knew that, but now they can’t deny it. College football is the largest money maker for colleges.

which sport makes more money as it relates to a per scholarship player. FB or basketball.

Lengthy tweet if you care to read. Greg Byrne retweeted it.

Oh well. College sports were fun while they lasted I guess.

Why don’t business donate so that the other sports can function now.

Not all sports need to be officially sanctioned university sports. Some of these sports that hemorrhage money can be club/intramural programs where they find ways to fund it.
We don’t really need the swim team traveling to Mizzou to play an SEC slate racking up thousands of dollars in travel expense to swim in front of 25 people

No, what we don't need is baseball or women's basketball, judging by the numbers.

Football and basketball will get the majority of this(and rightly so they make money) but how much is gonna be left for baseball, Softball, women’s basketball…etc?
A lot of programs are gonna get cut because of this…but this is only scenario that makes NIL work IMO

I’m fine with that too

I get the feeling that parents of girls who play sports are not going to be too happy when women's athletics support gets gutted. Ultimately if Title IX is satisfied by equality in scholarships but not facilities and support then I imagine that is the future for women's athletics in college.

I'd argue the opposite. The men's basketball and football need to leave the NCAA and have some loosely coupled relationship to a university. They can just be private ventures with some sort of advertising relationship to the institution. This would seemingly solve the Title IX problems and let college athletics get back to what it was before the post-war boom of college football coverage.
