For first offense rushing the field or court for SEC events.

Pricey.

Just came across on CBS app
quote:

SEC sets fine for rushing field, court at $500,000 after eliminating escalating system By Will Backus 3m ago • 1 min read The SEC is setting the penalty for rushing the field or court after a game is over at $500,000, eliminating the escalating fine system in the process. Commissioner Greg Sankey announced the move Thursday evening as the SEC spring meetings in Miramar Beach, Florida come to an end.

Unfortunately I have little faith that this will deter my fellow LSU fans from rushing the field the next time we come back in the 4th quarter to beat an unranked team

Sure, go ahead and pick on Vandy once they start having success.

That’s the thing. The college fan doesn’t give a damn about a fine. They want to party and celebrate the moment with their crew.

So the school has to have security and enough of it to deter and halt a rush. That may start to have a price tag approaching 500k.

So a school gets fined. Do they use hi res cameras and institute fines on the individual offending students to offset the bill?

Good

We're going to dress like opposing fans @ Ole Miss, @ Tennessee, @ LSU and @ Texas

If we lose, we're rushing the field

I agree to these terms ONLY if it deducts the same amount from our least favorite coach's current buyout.

This day and age everything is digital - they know who purchased the tickets. Just charge everyone in the stadium a per seat share of the fine - including the visitors.

That way the losing fans get to share in their team’s misfortune by subsidizing the fine!

I’m torn because it’s part of what makes the sport unique. And it’s fun to see…as long as it all stays fun. It seems increasingly it’s not staying just fun, though.

It would seem $100k per game would be enough for programs to establish a security perimeter.

Rules are pretty freaking clear. Don’t rush the field. Maybe make the student body tickets share the fee since they’re the ones typically doing it.

Better suggestion - once they’re on the field don’t let them off until you’ve documented them. Then make those on the field share proportionally in the fine.

Does the fine money still go to the opposing team?

Both of them. Would that really be worth $500,000 ?

They should get creative. Have a standing offer if a team thinks they will upset another they can prepay$100,000 before the game. If a rush happens its paid in full. If not they’re out $100k. Use proceeds to pay for some damn competent refs

frick adding more rules and penalties. No one has ever died from storming the field. No one has ever really been injured, player or coach. Its part of the game.

But lets face it, this game is about money now and Universities cant have their pampered millionaire players damaged after a loss.

It won't work. Jimbo Fisher got fired for 25 million dollars. The administrations of these schools will pay whatever it takes.
