From his IG

He is putting together a contender.

Porter Moser and the Sooners got off to a scorching start in the portal, landing Notre Dame transfer Tae Davis, who averaged 15.1 points and 5.3 rebounds for the Fighting Irish, Miami transfer Nijel Pack, a proven high major guard who has averaged over 12 points per game across five seasons, and St. Joe’s transfer Xzayvier Brown, who put up 17.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.

Hopefully this means we don't look great during non conference then shite the bed in conference. We shall see. I don't have much faith.

Tre Young making a quick impact with OU men's basketball. The OU women might be favored to win the league next year getting the #1 recruit Chavez which gives the Sooners 5 McDonalds All Americans next year. Things are trending up in basketball.

Reid was a huge disappointment. Went from being a projected one-and-done first rounder to needing to stay in school. His problem is he can’t shoot.

Derion Reid is a pretty prototypical “athlete with upside” type 5* PF.

Has an NBA lottery ceiling, but isnt really polished in many facets of the game.

The coaches seemed to like him as he was getting lots of developmental minutes when he was healthy, but he went from young & untested to trying to ease back in as a guy who was still very raw on a team trying to make another F4 run so he just never had a major impact at Bama.

He 100% has NBA upside, it’ll all depend on how his game develops. He just doesn’t have an elite shot or anything I saw that he could completely lean on yet but he’s a great get for OU and someone I’m sure the coaches wanted back at Bama.

A lot of upside. He can play. Does not have a dependable shot yet. From what I’ve read good luck dealing with his family. They can be a bit demanding

His problem was he had nagging injuries all year and then had outside influences pushing him to not rush it back at the end of the year.

I defer to your knowledge on this, but when I saw him play, I saw teams daring him to shoot from outside.

A 45-26-58 shooting split is not great, but he is athletic and strong.

He never played enough consistently to get completely comfortable and in sync. The first month of the year when he was healthy he was probably our best on ball defender and a great finisher. His shot never fully synced up, but that happens a lot with freshmen coming into our system until it kind of clicks (Sherrell is a good example of this).

He's got everything to be a very good player, but the behind the scene stuff late in the year was certainly a red flag and I question a guy with his skillset leaving a program built to showcase guys like him for a place where there isn't a set system and the coach is on his last leg. But I wish him the best.

I mean he seems like a good kid, it's just an odd decision and the way his camp played things down the stretch last year was not great. Still hope he does well.

So now maybe OU will be in the top 10 in the SEC?

This time last year I thought he'd be a starter and maybe push Wrightsell to our 6th man.

Quite honestly I thought he might be a one-and-done, then Wrightsell got OFTY early while he, Philon, and Mallette had extended injuries, and Naas redshirted.

Consequently, I don't think we really ever to got to see him 100% settle into a normal role this season.

He plays long and has the strength to bang inside, but probably prefers the mid-four. Flashes occasionally but needs to work on his touch offensively.

I was really sad to see him go.

I certainly that a full offseason of health and confidence in year 2 he'd be a really solid player. But then it became pretty clear his people wanted a bag, likely misread the market and so he was gone.

OU already has a bunch of untested wing/three players and a pretty solid ND transfer there.

They desperately need somebody who can play the four and be physical.

The only other guy on the roster who is a proven inside player is former Bama player Mo Wague... and he is just okay. OU needs big time help inside.

Reid is a willing defender. When healthy he's got good feet to cover guards on a switch. Strong enough to hold his own down low.
I was disappointed in his offensive game, especially in the paint. Rarely went up strong on the drive, instead always tried to avoid contact and double/tripple clutch a layup instead of just challenging the defender.
All the other posts about his outside shot are noted also, he's got work to do.
There were times when he seemed to predetermine that it was his turn to get a shot and just took one regardless of the situation.

I never thought I'd say this, but I have a really bad feeling that the current environment is slowly pushing me away from college athletics.
