As of now, I’d say yes since a lot of fans are saying ride with the QB room we have now and take our lumps. Of course, those feeling will more than likely change once the games start being played.

We went 3-7 the year before hype got there. He’s got plenty of wiggle room for those VOLS fans who are not complete idiots (and the decision makers). Plus he went to the playoffs last season and bought some time. Barring something like a 5-7 season, his seat is cold as ice.

Valid point. I think most of us know what to kind of expect this season.

He's not on the hot seat, but when you can go to the transfer portal yourself, it's hard to give a pass because someone transferred.

Also, when you make the decision to fire a coach, the most important part is who is lined up next. Fulmer being fired was necessary. What screwed us for 15 years is what came next. Firing a coach is step 1. Step 2 is a lot more difficult. Even if Hype went 4-8 this season, and the only other option was somebody like butch jones, bring Josh back.

The UcheaT fans know better than anyone who they have behind Nico so if they think they have a kid who can step in and start, then they're not going to give him much of a break. But if they know there's a significant drop off behind him, then they'll probably give him a pass this season.

As much as I despise UcheaT, this wasn't Heupel's fault, and sometimes doing the right thing (like he did) puts your team in short-term disadvantage. But in the long term, this will help their program.

No such thing when you are dealing with fans. The word 'fan' comes from the word fanatical which has no landing in the world of logic. They will soon forget the reason and the fact they supported the reason.

I don't think Heupel will need a pass. I expect Tennessee to shock everyone with who they bring in via the portal.

Your criteria for "beating someone's a$$" is interesting...

I'd pumped the brakes sparky...

The key is going to be who is available. It's all well and good to say they're going to get someone in the portal. But is there going to be quality talent in the portal? Because you can't pick from options you don't have.

When really good players go in the portal, they do so with a "do not contact" designation. This is because their deal was done before they went in the portal. This all happens behind the scenes.

We fully intended to retain a godawful Pruitt until his cheating became too obvious. Heupel went to the playoffs last season. He’ll be fine.

Yes. Because he has proven he will stand on principle. I loathe Tennessee but have a lot of respect for Heupel for not letting the inmates run the asylum.

Hell they might be better now without Nico. He reminded me of a skinny Feleipe Franks.

Well I already knew you weren't an Alabama fan, but now we find out you're really just a Tennessee fan.

Not surprising to see yet another Tennessee alt on the forum.

Fulmer was the one that was behind it all.
