I read he was facing 5-10 years. I wonder if that is the max. Leonard Little for the St. Louis Rams was driving drunk and killed someone back in 1998. It was manslaughter and was convicted to 90 days in a St. Louis jail.
I’m guessing courts were lenient on Leonard Little because he was an NFL player.

They weren’t for Dwayne Goodrich.

He served 8 years for killing 2 people but wasn't drunk.
Dante Stallworth also got off easy.

He took the coward way out. He was due to appear in front a grand jury this week for vehicle negligence man slaughter. Let’s pray for the marine vet he killed that survived nam twice.

Speculation as he fled the scene and no breathalyzer done. Witnesses had seen him in strip clubs all night. I am going on the theory that he had been drinking.

Is that some weird La Napoleanic law that puts the accused in front of the grand jury?

He put even more people in harm's way checking out the way he did. I feel for his family as they lost a loved one, but I won't mourn for Lacy.

Ummmm….. it’s done in all 50 states.

Federal Grand Jury

A jury convened to determine if there is sufficient evidence to warrant the indictment of a suspected offender. A federal grand jury consists of between 16 and 23 persons and is required by the Fifth Amendment to the US Constitution before a person can be indicted for a serious criminal offense under federal law

You didn't address the question:
"...puts the accused in front of the grand jury?"

The answer is that the accused does not have the right to appear before the grand jury and contest evidence brought by the prosecutor.

Therefore, I doubt that he was due to appear actually in front a grand jury.

Who said he wasn’t right? I merely pointed out Ricky’s own words that describe him perfectly. Sounds you are crying. I hope that you find a way to deal with all of your emotional stress.

No, he wasn’t going to appear.

A grand jury was scheduled to hear Lacy’s case Monday. His attorney, Matthew Ory, said in a statement

My prediction for this thread is 4 pages. 25% of LSU posters will condemn Lacy’s actions, 25% will try to diminish or rationalize his actions, and 50% will just attack other posters and schools about unrelated issues.

No appearance by defendant in Grand Jury in GA, and I assume most everywhere else. Think you may be confusing it with trial jury, hoss.

I misread the post. Made a mistake. Didn’t mean to say he had to appear. I was merely saying a grand jury convenes in all 50 states.

Everything I read about this kid seems to point to the fact that he was a short-tempered thug who had no respect for anyone around him.

And it turns out that he didn’t commit suicide in his house. He did it while being chased by the police for speeding.

I’m not immune to that myself. Didn’t have the ADD diagnosis back when I was in school, but if they did, I would’ve been the poster child.

He committed more crimes in the process of this. He would have stayed in jail on violation until sentence and gotten more time for shooting a gun and fleeing in vehicle from police.
