Do Nico and his Dad have an actual plan?

I’m trying to evaluate this chaos as if each side (UT and Nico) are rational actors furthering their own interests.
Logic would say that Nico must have secured a significant raise from another school with a good team prior to letting this get to the point of skipping practice, and therefore breaching whatever contract he has with the collective and severely damaging his reputation with teammates and fans.
However, it could also be true that Nico’s only negotiation power was simply in that he believed he had Tennessee caught in a situation where they would have no choice but to meet his demands and never thought they would call his bluff?
Was Nico’s camp bluffing or was there an actual Plan B for if Tennessee kicked him off the team?

Short answer: no.
Long answer: also no.

Guaranteed there’s already an offer from both Ohio State and Oregon “just in case he decides to go elsewhere”
Vols decided not to match. I would say the odds illegal tampering is going on there at 99.99%

Lanning dropped the dime to UTK about Nico, so I doubt that.
F$U seems logical.
ETA- Now I doubt FSU would take him since they just got BC's QB in the off-season.

I'm not sure Ohio St or Oregon believe Nico is good enough that he is a for sure starter for either team. Maybe, but both have great QB rooms and Nico is still more potential than results at this point. And if he's not a definite starter you're paying a guy a lot of money to ride the bench and leave again in a year.
Somewhere like UCLA, USC, and Notre Dame make sense. Maybe Colorado

Rumor is that Nico isn’t smart so I assume his dad isnt either. They are also Mormon and my experience with Mormons in the business world is they are greedy and are deceiving.

I’m guessing they have overplayed their hand. If the rumors about their number are true there’s no way another program has seen enough in him to offer that much.

I’m guessing their agent is used to the NfL way of doing things and didn’t factor in that in college you can be kicked off the team at the coach’s discretion and it was completely disconnected from the NIL deal he had.

Nico's dad and Judkins' mom need to get together.

Honestly, I don't think Mormons have exactly cornered the market on "greedy and deceiving" in the business world.
But it does make me wonder if BYU might not want to take him so that they can move on from that Jewish QB they have...
It is a bad look for BYU to have a Jewish QB. Not for the fact that he is Jewish... but for the fact that they haven't been able to convert him.

Unlikely they had a backup plan. The dad and Nico think he is a lot better than he actually is because he was a highly ranked five star coming out of high school.
The truth of the matter is his numbers weren’t impressive for how highly he was ranked.

This is why I don't even consider recruiting rankings valid. My daughter's high school had a "5 star" cornerback. He looked the part and he was fast, but he wasn't a lockdown corner in high school.
In fact, he got picked on by a couple of decent wide receivers. When he gave up a big catch, he would lay down and fake an injury. The entire crowd would be like "Oh no, he's hurt." He'd be helped off the field and come back a few plays later.
Edited: I was about to say he never played a down at Alabama, but it appears he played special teams and had one tackle in his career.

Guarnteed that Ohio State won't touch him with a 10 foot pole.

I don’t think they ever intended to leave. They were just so stupid in how they negotiated that they left us with no choice but to cut bait. And now that they have been cut loose they have far less leverage to negotiate with anyone.

If Ohio State even considers him the majority of the fan base would riot. F that dude

I mean you saw first hand what happened when the real engine of our offense (Sampson) couldn’t play and Nico had to be relied on to do more than hand the ball off.

The plan was to announce this right before the spring game, with the idea being that they would have UT over a barrel and they wouldn't be able to say no.
Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

Getting outright cut by Tennessee with no option to return definitely hurts his negotiation power. He has some high demand skills but this late in the offseason it is a flooded market without many top tier schools looking for a new starting QB. And Nico is unemployed and badly needing a job. His prior employer references are terrible as well.
He should take notes from Carson Beck if he wants to leave one major school for more money at another. AKA, do it amicably and not the day before the spring game.
