i don't want to hear sh*t about Aggie "honor code" or any bs like that then from a single Aggie fan. They think they are so virtuous and honorable yet they have no problem going after Beard.

Even the Austin Statement or whatever it’s called is calling for Beard. I never thought I’d see the day horn writers are saying, “Go after Beard” when their school fired him. Crazy.

the only train back to Austin runs through College Station.. that may not be why they’re saying it.. but that is why I’m saying it..

This is going to be an interesting Coach search for aggy. A lot of budget pressure is building. Historically, what has Trev Alberts done as an AD when it come to budget matters?
1) Elko has finished year one. Not to bad, not great either. Clearly he'll be there for at least 2 or 3 more years. The results he turns out, either trending up or down will determine if he remains employed.
2) Michael Earley (age 37) is struggling big time in his first year as a head coach, and only 7 years as assistant coach. Will he remain next year or does aggy AD need to go find his replacement? Another men's head coaching search, the third in 2 years.
3) Improvements to Blue Bell park and to other A&M school facilities state wide is in the works and currently budgeted.
4) NIL dollars to acquire and retain talent keeps escalating. Will aggy dollar input continue or increase with the current products the sports department is producing?
So there is current, and evolving stress on the aggy budget. I'm telling you now that aggy is extended and leveraged to the hilt. I don't have evidence or research, only 55+ years observing aggy. One thing goes sour on them and the "Margin Call" will blow things up. Going to be very interesting, for sure.

I am starting to like this Beard hire more and more. Funny how the 'sips are getting upset about A&M pursuing a coach that they prematurely fired.
For the record, most Ags are virtuous and honorable. Hiring a coach who was found innocent of all charges and had the charges dismissed has nothing to do with being virtuous and honorable. Starting to wonder if you even know what the words mean.
We also don't fire coaches who are innocent. Perhaps CDC should have waited for a guilty verdict before trying to ruin a coach's career. He might have jumped the gun a bit

Seems fitting since most aggies have a beard, especially in the corps.

Agree that Beard has too much baggage…Aggie can do better***

Who's upset? I said yesterday it would be a great move to go after him. He's one of the best coaches in the country. You'd be crazy to not give him a call.
Granted this is coming from someone who hates basketball. If this were football or baseball I might feel different about it.
I do think beard would take the job if offered.

Man that was upended decades ago. Ever hear the name Jackie Sherrill?

I am amazed you don't see the irony in this post, pineapple boy.

Right, because Jackie was the only coach beta testing NIL in the SWC.
Texas had its own tab running and got probation, too, without much to show for it.
Hell, I’m pretty sure Grant Teaff was the only coach in the 80’s SWC that was not running a payroll.

Check in on the guy I was replying to.

I agree with you. I think Beard would probably be a good hire. I don't follow basketball that closely but everyone seems to agree that he would be a good choice.
