Haven't been this grumpy about Georgia football during an off-season for a while

I am 100 percent spoiled. Kirby won the SEC Championship in a down year.

But it's looking like we're going to run it back on offense this season, with no subtractions or additions to the offensive staff, and it's a buzzkill.

The program seems stale and needs some new energy, but Kirby doesn't seem to be doing anything about it. But then again I wouldn't trade Kirby for any coach in the country and Kirby has shown us over and over that he never should've been doubted in the first place.

Who the frick really knows!

In Kirby we Trust. Last years team couldn't keep it buttoned up, offense had no identity.

I wouldn't say bringing in Branch and Thomas at WR is doing nothing about it, but at the end of the day it all hinges on QB play and Bobo adapting to our talent

Stale? Won SEC Championship. Second Round of Playoffs. Beat our Rivals. All of them. 2 seasons removed from back to back nattiies. The dude who got us those is still HC. Maybe it’s more of a perspective issue.

"I am 100 percent spoiled" was my nifty preface. What else do you want?

It wasn't just the offensive line having 2 of Mel Kiper's top 7 offensive guards and Mel Kiper's #1 center and still not being able to run the ball in between the tackles. Finished 15th in the conference in rushing yards per game.

Our defense got pushed around too many times. UMass mauled us and we made Haynes King look like Tommy fricking Frazier.

Kirby spoke a lot about changing up the practice routine and trying to stay fresh for a long season. At some point I'm wondering if it caused us to lose our edge.

I’ll be honest, I’m kinda enjoying taking a mental break from thinking about football. I’ll get the bug again come June, I’m sure, but having good basketball and baseball to watch is giving me reason to not really think about recruiting or practice or whatever else and it’s sort of nice.

Like...4 years? Heading into 2021 is the last time we've really had any merit to be grumpy.

I think it has more to do with the expanded playoff for me. Pretty jaded on the sport as a whole.

Also, could see us seeing dropping 4-5 games next year.

Auburn will be better. Also on the road

Bama will be better with a better QB...even though milroe owned us

UF might have beaten us with Lagaway last year. Gonna be tough.

And Tech will pull out all the stops to get a win on the flats.

Not to mention Texas, Tennessee, and Ole Miss.

Yes and wouldn’t be foolish to expect an L there. Roster and timing works out well for them and JHS is hell when it wants to be.

No they won’t. They’ve got a 90s Florida level mental hold on us but we are top to bottom better than they are in terms of roster. Timing and location should be enough to get us over the hump.

Totally depends on where both teams are going into the game, mentally and health wise. Lagway is an absolute X factor at QB which is usually the best way to get to us. But you’re also talking about a team we hve a mental hold on and who our coaches aren’t going to overlook. If Florida plays their A game they can beat us but I haven’t seen them play an A game in Jax since Meyer was there. Is Billy really the guy that’s gonna do that?

Talk about a team we have a mental hold on. Don’t think you’ll see us sleepwalk against Tech again for a while. Also, game is in MBS.

Kirby has Sark’s number, Ole Miss at home favors us in more ways than one.
Tennessee is always a concern on the road especially in game 3 with a quasi-new starter but, again, mental block. Kirby has that scheme licked.

This is it, the sport has been getting further and further from even the basic 2000s ball I grew up with and is now miles apart from the game played in the 70s/80s. Recruiting is less interesting. Commercials are everywhere. There's doom & gloom news constantly.

And we've been pushing through all that for 3 years straight because the Dawgs have been the best in CFB and the best in UGA history. It's spoiled AF but I too have been enjoying a break from football this year.

The expanded playoff doesn't have me jaded. It needs to be tweaked in terms of who gets in and byes but beyond that it's fine.

The transfer portal and NIL, on the other hand.

About the offense, I do think a leadership void was a big problem. I hope someone or some group step up from that perspective. It makes me also wonder how transfers in and out, the lack of continuity, is impacting the culture. Kirby's Dawgs are known for outworking other teams during the week. I hope that's still the case.

Yup. So could I. We shall see. My enthusiasm for the sport as a whole has almost become apathetic, and I don't see it improving.

it's an absolute travesty what the powers that be have done to the sport. What's even more shocking is the breakneck pace that it's happened. We aren't talking a little inch here, a little inch there, then a few decades later you look back and say "hey wait a minute, how did we get here?" Fields transferring was the first high profile instance I can recall of a guy going from one 1A program to another and not having to sit, regardless of how fabricated or bullshite the reasoning may have been. That was in 2019. Barely 6 years later and we went from "ok we'll let this guy transfer and not have to sit a year" to then creating a portal for anyone and everyone to transfer for any reaosn they want, unlimited and unregulated payments to plyers and recrutis, ever more ludicrous conference epxansions and implosions, bloated new conferences, a continually expanding playoff system, etc. I mean in less than a decade we went from the CFB we all remember to some new weird NFL-lite version. It's almost incomprehensible how quickly this all went down.

And as you said, it can't get back to how it was. There's just no way to put the genie back in the bottle at this point.

yah, worst offense we have had since 2015 and we still won the SEC. I think Kirby and Bobo feel the pressure and the offense should improve; especially with the new receivers we have. I think the OL is the biggest concern for me.

I will feel better about 2025 if Stockton and Puglisi get good reps against weaker teams. I do not believe that Stockton can stay healthy for an entire season. The kid is just too reckless thinking he can run over linebackers.
