Best headed into SEC play….

Are the BaseVols the best team in America. It’s easy to say yes just by looking at their W/L record at 16-0, or it’s #1 ranking by everyone poll in America except for 1, but let’s look a little deeper.
ERA: 1st w/ 1.83
HR’s: 1st w/ 49 in 16 games
HR’s per game: 1st w/ 3.06
Runs: 1st w/ 199
Slugging %: 1st with .711
SO’s per 9 innings: 1st w/ 14.1 per game
WHIP: 1st w/ .95
Batting Average: 2nd w/ .348
OBP: 2nd w/ .489
Scoring: 2nd w/ 12.4ppg
Walks: 3rd w/ 131
Hits: 15th w/ 177 in 508 AB’s
Some individual stats worth noting:

1st in SO per 9 innings w/ 20.80

While the Vols may be the best team in the country, it is actually impossible to determine that for certain at this point.
No two schedules are the same. Your stats may be gaudy because your competition sucks.. or maybe they are amazing because those teams have been pretty good. Rinse and repeat for every team in the country.
There's probably about 10-20 teams that could win it this year, assuming they get hot at the right time and the balls bounce the right way.
Are the Vols one of those teams? Yes.
That's all you can ask for at this point of time. You are beating a dead horse if you try to prove otherwise.

SEC baseball is going to be a street fight this year yet only one team's fanbase is acting like babies on this board about a ranking based on opinions. Just goes to show you how they really are the new kid on the block. You don't pay attention to polls until late April when you're potentially fighting for host spots.
