so bad weekend for Alabama and Tennessee. Spoiling their high rankings by going 0-2 to start league play.

Big start for South Carolina and a nice win for Georgia on Monday.

LSU blew a chance for a nice ranking win by blowing a lead vs Vandy. They fall out of the top 75 now and have lost 13 straight regular season ACC matches dating back to last year.

Kentucky typically has a strong men’s team but if I recall correctly they had some older talent last season. Just a case of a newer squad?

Yes. Kentucky has been the best team in the SEC for a few years now. Made the national title game in 2022 and was runner-up to Virginia. Won the SEC last year without dropping a match.

But yes this year's team is younger. They had a rough start with a loss to Michigan State and then went 1-2 in national indoors tournament.

Antoine Ghibaudo is a very talented Freshman and a good #1 player immediately, but still just a freshman. And also the team has a little less depth than previous seasons.

Still should finish top half of SEC but would not expect the SEC title this year.

Always liked Coach Kauffman at Kentucky, you have got a good one there, as long as you keep him you all will have good teams.

Should Reynolds get some pressure? Year 9 for him and hasn't done a whole lot

Yet another sport where the LSU men are struggling while the women are excelling. This is exhausting

Because the computer rankings go strictly by numbers and before the Alabama match, SC's only wins were over Furman, Citadel, North Florida, Queens and College of Charleston. No wins that register for any ranking points cause none of those teams are top 125 in the rankings.

They lost to top 10 San Diego, top 5 Virginia and a surprising loss to Clemson.

So rankings points wise just no wins worth anything so they were out of the top 75. But the wins over Alabama and Auburn will move SC up quickly. Probably into the top 40

I’m not into college tennis, but why do the results differ between 5, 6, & 7 (in conference play)?

well you need 4 points to clinch.

Matches start with 3 doubles courts, whichever team wins 2 of the 3 doubles courts 1st gets a 1-0 lead, they win the "doubles point".

Then it goes to singles where there are 6 courts 1-6. Each one worth 1 point.
So if you won the doubles point you need to win 3 courts and if you lost the doubles point you have to win 4 of 6.

Coaches decide before the match if they are going to play to clinch or play it out. Playing to clinch means it ends whenever a team gets to 4 and the other matches are abandoned, so thats why you have a 4-0 score. But if they play it out, all courts will get a result.

Playing it out is done for more match experience for the players and individual records, which is important for the players on the top courts especially.

Conference and NCAA Tournament matches are always stopped at clinch

It is reasonable looking at the numbers to have that view.

On the flip side he recently lost a year on a top recruit (Heng) due to illness, and then lost some key assistants (Hooshyar and Roddick) so those things hurt. Also most of the team this year is young.

I think Bobby goes about things the right way and if AU sticks with him they will see a real return on that investment.

Interesting scoring system.
I remember playing on our hs tennis team & the winner was the most matches won of everybody (men & women singles & doubles).

It’s weird seeing UGA so low on those rankings but with Diaz finally retiring I guess some natural falling back is to be expected. Meanwhile, women’s program is on an absolute heater.

Yeah I would say the top 4 are the national title contenders this year. I would be shocked to see the national champion come from a team outside of those 4. They seem to be a cut above everyone else this year
