Can someone explain to me why LSU is ranked #1 in team ranking? LSU has a total of 16 commits, Ole Miss has 22. They neither one have a 5 star. They both have ten 4 stars. LSU has five 3 stars while Ole Miss has twelve 3 stars. It just doesn't add up.

Because LSU's average player is ranked higher than the average player taken by Ole Miss.

Because Ole Miss is a Dumpster Program

I thought a 4 star was a 4 star or a 3 star was a 3 star. I didn't realize that a 3 star that goes to LSU is ranked higher than if he went to Ole Miss.

There isn’t such a thing as equal 4 stars. A bottom end 4star is a 89 I believe, and a high end 4 star is 94 I believe. Something like that.

As JayAg says, there are high and low 3 or 4 stars. All 3 stars aren't equal, all 4 stars aren't equal.
Also, Ole Miss took more 3 stars and that's dragging their average down.

they have a system that awards points to each transfer. a four star that barely missed out on getting a fifth star is worth a lot more points than a four that was almost a three star.
oregon only got ten transfers, but is still #4 in the rankings. they also have the highest average highest rating by almost a point

First time ever following recruiting of any sort?
IF you have 300 4-stars, one is ranked #50 and the other is ranked #250, the one ranked #50 would be seen as a more quality 4-star than the one ranked #250.
This is why sites like 247 and on3 have ratings beyond the stars. There can be a 95 rated 4-star on on3 or a 90 rated 4-star; these are very differently ranked players. You get more team "points" for a 95 rated 4-star than a 90 rated 4 star. A 4 star is not equal across the board, and 3 star definitely are not considering theres like over a thousand of them. You could have a 3-star ranked around #450 and rated an 89 or a 3-star ranked #1,219 and rated a 82

No.
It all boils down to individual player rankings & averages, and I don't think someone from Mississippi can math at the required level to understand it all.

Yes, it's numbers and not too surprising an Ole Piss fan can't figure it out.

Ole Miss is desperate to celebrate literally anything

There are over 400 4 star recruits each cycle and almost 2000 3 star recruits. There are usually only 30-35 5 star recruits, so you could have a top 40 player who is a 4 star and a 400th ranked player who is also a 4 star. No, they are not all created equally
