Got the famed Nebraska football running scared and dumping your upcoming games. Wow, surprised a program with that "reputation" and "history" would do such a thing.
Needing home games for ticket sales - whatever you need to tell yourselves nubbers.

I thought this was a CWS Championship thread for 2025.

They will have reduced capacity due to renovations, but will still host all their other opponents. Legit excuse.

This is the shitty system we have, no reason for Nebraska to risk an OOC loss.

If the B1G and SEC both get 4 teams in, as has been discussed.. then there is no risk to Nebraska playing Tennessee..
But that isn't a guarantee at this point..

Only delusional Nebraska fans would think 1 more loss is going to have much affect on their 26 and 27 seasons. Bowl elgibility maybe.

Over the next several years, Nebraska is going to tear out the entire south endzone stadium and replace it with a whole new section. They need every home game they can get. The home and away doesn't fit. Missouri could only wish they had the fan support Nebraska has.

That sucks. I wanted to go to Nebraska to see Tennessee play. Their fans are A+.

Post something that shows the endzone renovations have been rescheduled, because they were canceled.

Missouri doesn't wish to be anything like Nebraska. They are so yesteryear.

Vanderbilt has been rebuilding their stadium but they haven’t ducked anyone.

What is going on with these Mizz posters? Are you all in menopause at the same time. You will never be relevant in any sport, so you might want to ease off the bashing of the real teams here.

Not canceled, just posponed. Nebraska just finished a $165 million football complex, so the stadium expansion was postponed.
In 2006, Tennessee and Nebraska agreed to a home and away set of games, scheduled for 2016 & 2017.
In 2013, Nebraska agreed to a Tennessee request to delay the series so Tennessee could play West Virginia in 2016 at the Bristol Motor Speedway.
Nebraska replaced Tennessee for those years with Oregon. (Running scared?) At that time, the games were rescheduled for 2026-2027.
Believe me, no one is more disappointed than Nebraska fans. I was really looking forward to going to the game at Neyland for the first time. I've heard it's one of the great college football experiences.
By the way, Nebraska asked Tennessee to reschedule. Tennessee refused.

Hosting isn't the reason. The game at Tennessee was the problem. Nebraska was able to schedule a lesser opponent to come for another home game, meaning multi-millions in income.

Nice paywall link.
Nebraska has an excuse.... but this zeroes in on a greather truth.
"Nebraska isn't running scared from Tennessee as much as it's running toward
the Indiana model of taking the College Football Playoff path of least resistance"
NOT A GOOD LOOK

Nice link to Matt Hayes opinion article. Yes, that Matt Hayes.
With the additional game of 90,000 paid seats, it's a little more than "a few million" gained from a home game. On top of that, there's the $20 million needed each year for paying players.
Nebraska doesn't have the advantage of a large population most other Big 10 or SEC teams have. The state's entire population is smaller than most other states' larger cities.

I think a lot of people are concluding that Nebraska wanted out of a difficult series because a logical alternative wasn't provided. " We can afford half-a-billion for stadium renovations, but we need to make a few million back with an extra home game."
