Missouri, Tennessee and Auburn on the road.
Kentucky, Miss St and Florida at home.
I feel 5-1 would keep us a number 1 seed...what do you think?

If we go 5-1 then Oats should get a million dollar bonus. That means we won either at Florida or Auburn.
I’ll take 4-2 or 3-3 right now and still think that gives us a 1 seed.

We absolutely could go 6-0 on those. However, Oats has a record of his teams floundering down the stretch. Including last year's 2- 3 finish, which had a home overtime win over Arkansas.
He practices them hard, and perhaps wears them out over the course of a regular season.

I expect losses At Tennessee and against Florida. The Auburn game is a toss up. Barnes has been able to put the defensive clamps on Alabama under Oats and win low scoring grinders. Barnes seems to have Oats number. Florida is just a beast that is playing scary good basketball. It’s going to be a tough finish but we need to regroup and take it one game at a time.

That schedule is ridiculous. Bama is a great team this year but they will be lucky to go 4-2 in that stretch. I think Florida is actually the best of those teams.

We have played very poorly at home. Even the wins are ugly. Bama has played much better on the road this year. We need to play far better at home somehow. That ole miss loss is a total head scratcher to me.

Im a game late here but 3-3 would be a stretch. Surely they can grab 1 though.

1-5 is probably the likely outcome, maybe 2-4. At least how they're playing now. If the defense tightens up and they can limit turnovers they can beat anyone, but at this point they are who they are.

Florida is probably going to whip our arse. We haven't shown the ability all year to defend a competent big man or a high IQ basketball team. Florida is both.

We can still beat anyone if we shoot the ball well. Last night was one of our better shooting nights on the year, and we still got drummed. That's the scary part. the defense is so bad that we can't afford an off night shooting against a good team, and even when we are shooting well we can still lose.
Perimeter athleticism is our biggest flaw right now defensively and not something that can be fixed. We don't have any true "wing" players and those are the guys that are your first line of defense against a perimeter offense. Philon is a distributor point guard, Holloway and sears for all intents and purposes are vastly undersized 2 guards.
Dioubate is a small ball 4. I won't compare anyone to Herb because he's a generational defender, but we just don't have any perimeter length without Derrion Reid. When we can't defend the ball on the perimeter it's not that hard for anyone to run a half court offense. It's a lot harder on the frontcourt guys when the backcourt isn't offering any resistance
We're like a mid 2000's big 12 football team. Our best (only) defense is our offense. I wouldn't even say it's a catch 22. It's not like we have an offensively challenged guard that can go lock a guy down, the lineup has to be predicated by efficient scoring on our end, because Nate knows we can't defend worth a shite. It's why rebounding is a huge indicator for us.

I don't think 0-6 will happen but I agree it's not out of the realm of possibility.
How many times have we looked at the box score after a game and an opponent had a career night against us? The guard from MSU, the big kid from Arkansas, multiple players last night, the kid from Rutgers, the kid from Ole Miss, the kid from North Dakota, LJ Cryer at Houston...it's a long and damning list.
We simply do not have a defensive answer if a guy is hot. We are going to run into some good offensive players in game 2 of the NCAA tournament.
With our addiction to live ball turnovers and lack of defending, I just don't see us lasting long into March. This isn't a team that's ebbed and flowed and could get hot in March like the one last year i'm afraid. Our problems have been our problems since game one. We turn the ball over at an absurd rate and we aren't efficient on defense. Honestly we really haven't shot the ball that well from the perimeter all season either. The Wrightsell loss was a killer for this group. Our pace and rebounding has gotten us to where we are, but it's a deeply flawed team
We are 339 of 355 in turnover margin. The only tournament team that's worse is Creighton. That's not raw turnovers, which you can attribute to possessions/pace of play...that's turnover margin. It's indicative of your offense and your defense

That's a good point. We have no great perimeter defenders. Mo is the only guy that's a legit good defender, and he's not guarding the guys that get hot. If a guard is hot you have to get on him tight but that's a problem when you don't have a rim protector for when the guy gets by his defender. Cliff has been a *huge* disappointment in this regard. He's a decent on ball defender, but terrible with help.

We have Reid when he is playing regularly but he hasn't and his play has died down a little.
With Reid and Mo we have a great defensive combo.
Our issue is Grant Nelson with Mark Sears hurts us significantly defending and maintaining possession.
Oats has to bench Grant Nelson. I get downvoted for saying it but people thought benching Jarin was the answer... Jarin at least plays defense. Grant Nelson does none of those things to start the game and we have to have Sears out there for offense.
We probably should go Sears, Young, Mo, Reid and Cliff to start. That is pretty lockdown, and run offense to Mo and Reid attacking the rim early.
