Crazy Idea to replace Bowl Games, thoughts?

This is the hypothetical I’m thinking about, please humor me on why it can work or cannot work.
What if (whether the playoffs stay at 12 teams or expand): If you’re not in the playoffs or an NY6 bowl (if that’s still a thing), don’t we scrap bowl games and make an SEC All Star Pro Bowl type game??
Teams that qualified for bowls can still be allotted 20 extra practices. We can have a week at some stadium at maybe Mobile, Alabama for players draft eligible. Like an SEC senior bowl in front of scouts, a mini combine (players not invited to the combine can be showcased twice outside their school’s pro day). Maybe get a deal with the NFL network to run it to offset the bowl payouts.
If we are the minor leagues, shouldn’t we embrace it?

I like it.
Having bowl games with 30% opt outs will end up being dangerous….oh and boring.

Great idea. All conference teams parallel tournament.

You just know if we did it, the rest of the conference will follow. But Sankey would probably not build something like this bc he’s more reactionary.

eh... id rather have a NIT kind of playoff if we really needed an alternative from bowls

A 12 team playoff to play for 13th place would hurt the ego.

Keep the bowl games but move them to the beginning of the season. Limit them to 32 teams. Try to get preseason playoff type matchups. They could be crystal ball games to get a better look at the season. Play them in week 0. Maybe at the end of the season have 32 more teams play 16 more bowl games. Base the bowl teams on last year and this year.

Uh...uhm...HOW do you call yourself "pro bowl" material if you're NOT in the p/o nor NY bowls?

How do you win a Heisman with 3 losses? Stats

The thought of NIT should be set for those teams that don't make it to the new league of 65 or so teams.

Itd be a nice springboard if a team was young and had promise for the next season. I think the bowls are just fine though

They should move the bowl games to the beginning of the season to balance schedules and play the games without opt-outs.

I feel we need to move to a point we only focus on what’s best for our own (SEC), and frick college football and other conferences as a whole.

Should the W/L count to the overall record, or Bowls are preseason games to get teams ready?

Any idea that involves scrapping the bowl games means somehow convincing a bunch of old money grubbers who are just this side of legal to give up a minimum of effort/maximum of payout gig for nothing.

Nobody worth a shite would play in that game

You know the foundation of the NCAA is a bunch of Ivy League guys that invented the rules of college football. I don’t think that’s changed. The fact the NCAA is a Ivy League boys club eating off our product (million dollar salaries and can’t enforce shite), that would retain the status quo (current system) bc it keeps work off their plates really grinds my gears. Especially at a time streaming services are overpaying to get into the college football market. Like the Big 12 football contract with TNT. That’s my rant.

I think this might work but you’d have to make it an incentive, like guys who wouldn’t normally play. Maybe like rosters of players who aren’t projected to be in the first few rounds and let them show us and the scouts what they’ve really got . That way no opt outs and it would be competitive.

I don't watch minor league baseball or basketball, so I won't watch minor league football.
