LSU QB involved in on-campus car wreck this morning; found unresponsive

LSU quarterback Colin Hurley was injured in an on-campus car crash on Thursday morning around 2:45 a.m., WBRZ News reported. The 17-year old was found unresponsive and an update on his condition has not been provided.

“Sources tell the WBRZ Investigative Unit that Hurley’s Dodge Charger crashed into a tree at South Quad Drive and Highland Road, near the south gates of LSU’s campus.

Officials said Hurley was unresponsive but breathing. A crash report said firefighters pulled Hurley out of his vehicle. He was in and out of consciousness and had a large cut on his face.

The cause of the crash has not been released, but officials said impairment was not suspected.”

Hurley just finished his first season at LSU as a true freshman and after reclassifying from a 2025 commit to a 2024 signee, Hurley arrived on campus as the youngest players on LSU’s roster. He showed promise in LSU’s 2024 spring game after being an early enrollee and will be in line to compete for the backup quarterback position in 2025 with transfer Michael Van Buren. He was a four-star commit and top 25 quarterback in the 2024 class.

“I can’t wait to get on campus. Go and compete, learn and do the best I can do,” Hurley said just before arriving on campus. “He (Sloan) pushes me every day to be the best not only quarterback I can be, but the best person I can be. I can’t wait to go in there, do the best I can do and put forward the effort and time toward my team.”
