It's more than fair to say ND is very happy Kelly is gone and they have Freeman.
It's also fair to say it's true Freeman hasn't exceeded any results Kelly had at ND either. Kelly got to a title game and made another final 4 appearance.
Freeman is a very likeable guy so it's nice to see him win.

You do realize that BK didn't coach at ND when NIL was instituted right?
I have no doubt he would have won with Catholic finances backing the program.

You dummies act like Kelly went 7-6, 6-7 and 6-7. He hasn’t done as well as I had hope but he’s averaging 10-4. The narrative is stupid. He started in a huge hole.

Why wasn't he fired?
ETA - Not only was he not on any type of hot seat, he was given an extension in 2020 (the year prior to his departure) and Notre Dame was interested in making a competitive offer when he left.
Seems like they wanted to keep him around.
