They should have never been able to play in the playoffs because GA lost their starting QB just like how FSU lost their QB

Feel fairly certain FSU makes a 12 team playoff if it existed in 2023. Not to mention playoff rules say conference champs are automatic..

If they had lost to Texas you might have a point. But since the Conference Champs got automatic bids how could they not get in?

It is an interesting discussion that did not get a lot of airtime,….why wasn’t Georgia this year being treated like FSU last year,…..you lose your starting QB and you are out of the playoffs…..?

However, Georgia played the absolute toughest schedule in the nation, and won the SECCG. There is no doubt that they deserved to be in the number 2 spot for the CFP.

Because of the rules established prior to the playoffs.

It is not an interesting discussion. FSU would have made the playoffs without question if there had been a 12 team playoff last year.

Stockton was 20/32 for 234 yards, 1 TD, and no INTs.

Leonard was 16/24 for 90 yards and 1 TD, no INTs.

If UGA didn't belong in the playoff "because we were playing the backup QB", then what does that say about Notre Dame? Stockton had 2.5X as many yards as the ND QB, and in his first collegiate start at that. The QB wasn't the problem - that game was decided on a couple of really bad turnovers.

I didn’t watch the entire game - just had it on as background noise while at work but the new QB actually looked pretty good.

mUh FsUuUiagalelei that played a demonstrably worse schedule, didn't play in the era of auto bids, and most already agree shouldn't have been left out to begin with
