I’ll be the first one to do it now that football is over.

This year could easily be even worse than last year. We will not be good.

I said it on the main board but it’s become blatantly obvious with the rise of our football and basketball programs, Carter, the rest of the AD and boosters have decided baseball isn’t a focus to get resources anymore.

And I don’t blame them

It’s just so hard to believe that baseball has fallen off this much after winning a title in 22

Not defending Mike by any stretch but the addition of the new pitching coach, they’re doing things a lot different than they ever have

They usually have a really light Christmas break after finals in December but they’ve been getting after it this season all the way through to January. Much less time off for the players and staff.

There is some optimism internally that they’ve halted the skid

I will have to see it to believe it.

I don't care how hard they've worked. Can anyone name some big time bats that they brought in on the portal?

Because last year we had the worst offense in the conference. And we lost our top 4 offensive producers to the draft or the portal. It's not that the cupboard is bare. We don't even have a cupboard. We don't even have a kitchen.

This is my concern. It could have been shite coaching but we definitely looked like we had a complete lack of talent on the team. We were bad in all three phases.....hitting, pitching, and our fielding was atrocious.

I just don't see how we could have that big of a turnaround in just one offseason. And with our longstanding history of pitchers needing TJ surgeries.....the tougher offseason workouts don't exactly make me feel better. But I guess it is possible our pitchers arms have been blowing because of the lack of offseason work.

Screw baseball right now. Let’s focus on basketball. Sec schedule starts tomorrow at home against Georgia. We need to show up but we also better play better than we did at Memphis. That was fugly.

The 2022 team wasn’t the best we ever fielded. We just got hot at about the same time most past OM teams go cold. And some guys turned it on for the post season.

The problem is the total failure to capitalize on that national championship and build something off of it. It’s like Mike stuck the trophy in the trophy case and just went back home to play canasta at the kitchen table with the old ladies like he does every off season.

That was straight up destiny with some devine intervention. Literally everything went right.

The comebacks against Arizona and Miami in the regional were insane. The USM grand slam being overturned on review. The OU runner interference.

Not every game was won by luck, but it was insane how many coin flips went our way in that run. So glad I got to see it.

I think we will be improved enough this year just to sneak into a regional as a 3 seed. If Hunter Elliot can get back to his late freshman year form then we will have a good Friday night ace.

Yep, the landscape of college baseball has changed and Mike hasn't been able to change to keep up. I appreciate everything that he has done but he needs to retire after this season.

I wouldn't go that far yet

We win this game today if Cheng isn't hurt. Now if Bianco continues to put Paino in the lineup when Cheng is healthy then he should be fired. Paino has no business seeing the field again this year.
