2023: Undefeated Florida st. lose starting qb at the end of year and cost them a playoff spot. Alabama gets in.
2024: 2 loss Georgia lose starting qb at the end of the year and moves up to number 2 seed in the playoffs.

UGA has struggled with QB power this season. Alabama, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech. If ND beats Indiana UGA will see a lot of QB power with Riley Leonard.

Which is why Bama should've gotten SMU's spot. That was such an emotional bias to pick SMU over Bama because we all know damn well Bama would've won. They'd probably be a 14 pt favorite. Yeah you can bring up they were the favorite vs OU and Vandy, but they were still 7-5 ATS this year.

This is a dumb argument. How did FSU do against UGA in the bowl game? They got blown out. How did Bama do in the CFP game? It is considered one of the best CFP games out there. Went into OT in the Rose Bowl against the eventual NC. Had FSU played, Michigan D would have crushed FSU. It would be a boring game.
UGA lost their QB at the end of first half in SEC Championship Game. The backup overcame a deficit and beat a top 10 team in Texas. Based on the other champions who would you put over UGA at number 2? Arizona State? Boise St? Not going to happen.
This year with the expanded field everyone knew conference champs from Power 4 schools would get a 1st round. Whoever won the SEC would get that bye no matter who was injured.

It wasn't meant to be a argument, one was punished, one was rewarded. Of course there are differences and it was a broad statement not base on exact facts to point out the hypocrisy in college sports based on who's involved. I hate you missed the sarcasm and irony in what I was pointing out, which is factually all still correct.

Bama got in last year over FSU. Bama got left out this year instead of SMU. Same team involved, two completely different results.
Regardless of irony or sarcasm, Georgia is at least as good with their backup as they were with their starter, likely better. Their backup came in to defeat the #2 team in the country at the time. FSU was noticeably worse with their backup.
