Title game was set up perfectly.

Still had compelling Bowl Games with conference tie ins.

This year would have been perfect: Georgia plays Oregon for the the title, the bowls trickle down with some compelling match ups. SEC is represented because it’s the best conference in the land.

Solid season with Lanning vs Kirby to win it all. Rose, Sugar, Fiesta, and Orange provide some good football leading up to the title game.

But now it’s all fricked. And now you can transfer at whim, And now you gotta pay a salary for a roster and recruit your own team all season.

The NFL model doesn’t equate to college football, but greed always wins.

No reason to leave a computer type selection system except to manipulate the teams they want in there.

Agreed. It sucks. Has sucked since 2019 starting with Covid.

2000's through 2010s it was special but not anymore.

I enjoyed the BCS method myself as well.

However, bowl season sucks even more now with all the players taking themselves out for the draft or transferring.

BCS sucked....even the current abortion called playoff is abetter solution. The overall field of contenders just sucks this year.

Other than Oregon, has any team looked worthy?

Have you thought about waiting to see how this format turns out before you cry about it?

Some of us did, but the simple minded masses out there kept screaming for playoffs and could never stop snd see the upside of the BCS. And those people will keep clamoring for more and more expansion.

Yeah that Georgia/fsu game was compelling as hell. Ohio st players opting out was very compelling, etc, etc…….

We’ll have games with all players playing instead of skeleton teams in big bowl games. Heck, we had 9 players opt out of our bowl game against kansas a couple of years ago. At least we’ll have a few games full strength to watch this year rather than than a couple that aren’t watered down.

And with sports betting the interest in these games will be higher as well.

There’s a reason changes were made at this time whether we like it or not.

Since 2020 with Covid, you mean. 2019 was the best year ever in college football history, with the best team of all time defeating the hardest schedule of all time, led by the best QB of all time.

Nothing prevents a combination of BCS and a playoff. Anything involving a committee is rife with controversy.

That’s a very good point. Bowl games have been neutered with all the opt outs. At least a large playoff pool will get more teams playing at full power.

I miss it.

4 teams wasn't terrible because it was at least justified some years.

But man those BCS seasons were something else.

Plus they have a chance to play for a national championship. That’s a big incentive for players…
