That conference championship games are a hindrance and pointless. The narrative of sitting out conf champ games would really stoke up.

Remember, conference championship games are only played for money so the committee would be making a move against money.

If SMu gets left out then any team already in the playoff should not play their conference championship

Sounds like a great message. Conference title games are a relic of a bygone era. Get rid of them.

Well, they kind of are now.

That sucks but it's reality

When this is season all said and done, playing in the 2024 SECCG could be seen as a hindrance for both Texas and UGA winning it all. That narrative is not going to go away no matter what the committee does.

And if they let them in, it sends a message to schedule garbage out of conference and stay at 8 conference games.

When they get left out they are telling people you have to beat good teams to be considered top 12 in the country. It's easy really

SMU will whine like FSU did last year, then go out and get embarrassed in their bowl game and subsequent following season. ...a la, just as Florida St did.

Ftr, I don't believe Clemson is a top 15-18 team either.

This, it’s a way worse message if they let them in. Only losses matter, schedules and quality wins do not

SMU isn’t getting left out. Vegas just moved their odds to getting in to -800 from -350.

They have it right. Making the top 4 get a top 4 seed and a bye keeps them important along with assuring a bid usually to the power 4 conferences.

And SMU will stop playing the BYUs and the TCUs going forward. If they hadn’t lost to BYU, they’d be 100% in. SOS is dead, and so is OOC games

Which is fine with me.

SMU still isn't going to get in.

If anything it’s a message that they matter a lot, especially in a mid tier conference like the ACC. How does a conference title game matter if the outcome has zero impact? Tell Clemson conference title games don’t matter. In cruddy conferences like the Big 12 and ACC, they should be winner take all playoff games.

if your team lost to Vanderbilt and Oklahoma, you probably shouldn't say ACC and Big 12 are bad conferences.

I'd rather Clemson play Bama than get a rematch with SMU. SMU is just better. there's no way SMU loses to Vanderbilt or Oklahoma.

Bama beat both teams in the SEC that beat Clemson. Basically, you’re retarded.

Which is fine. Save those games for the playoffs.
