Listening to Sankey on SEC Now

He is everything that’s wrong with CFB.
• He’s a prickly anti-social personality up there with the affable Peter Burns and Chris Doering
• Every response is a mix of sanctimony, dismissiveness, and boredom
• It’s clear his brain is only thinking about $. He’s myopic. His answers continually go to narrow details of tweaking and tacking what we love to chip away at the edifice of the purity of sport in place of $
• He speaks with no respect of teams, tradition of games, or conscientiousness of players. His answers indicate an attitude they are all pawns in the larger machinations of the media/advertising long game
• His clothes smack of being an overpaid jerk. Nothing strikes me as more classless than showing off your money with clearly ostentatious clothing in inappropriate environments (like 10a in an empty MBS conference area setting up for the SECCG exhibition hall)
Of course I get it, but what a shitty reminder of the changes afoot. Not even the beauty of the 60 minutes during a game can erase this bad taste

Yet he has presided over the SEC and allowed it to have arguably the best years of all time.
Then there is you.
A no name slob sitting at home behind your keyboard spewing garbage on these forums.

My friend, you are casting pearls before swine.
And I'm not talking about HRV.

He is an executive first with decades of experience and specialized knowledge. I trust him to run the conference over a fervent fan.

Is he still big mad about the state of Mississippi's flag?

A difficult job indeed! "Here's the keys to the Ferrari. Try to go fast."
Anyone with half a brain could run this league.

Sankey is not different than the president of the US. He is told what to do by higher ups. The higher you go in the command chain, the more of a sellout a person usually is.

executive first with decades of experience and specialized knowledge.
He was a 20-year compliance director with a community college degree that started with a JV conference for 10 years before riding Slive’s coat-tails through some of the actual best years of the SEC.
He then fricked up a huge media rights opportunity with CBS, let other conferences dunk on him with their multi-channel rights deals and initial conference realignment moves, made a desperation play to bring in Big 12 schools that really aren’t a good fit long-term in the SEC, and topped that off with bringing in CFB’s entitled wrecking ball in Texas.
Oh and he also pissed off all the conferences and NCAA being so myopic as to suggest March Madness drop automatic berths, which would have toppled the entire Revenue model of the event for a D.O.A. plan to grab near-term $.
He’s not a good commissioner at all. He’s just the most powerful commissioner as a result of his position running the SEC.
