With only 2 teams BCS, only an occasional ok state like team was upset about being left out.

With 4 teams, you have 3-4 teams being pissed off. And those fans and coaches become even more angry.

Now 12 you have about 2 teams per conference (plus a hangers on type team like LSU trying to start trouble because of petty jealousies) upset about being left out. Now there’s a HC risking it all by directly tweeting hatred at a committee.

It’s almost like the more you try to fix or make more fair, the more it ruins it is there no way to appease the human condition?

As the Boss once said, Everybody has a hungry heart.

Speaking of hungry and melting ...

In the end, does it matter? 13 and no one is gonna care.

Bruce Springsteen is nobody’s boss. His music absolutely sux. Money -NIL/transfer anytime you want has ruined the game that we all know.

Cancel the regular season and have a 128-team playoff!

Why not?

Let the bottom 64 resume their season after week 1 loss.

Shane Beamer makes a great point: why play a tough schedule if the committee doesn't care?

"Is there anything to gain by playing some of these games out of conference?

The 8 highest ranked teams would be an optimal number.
Forget including the conference champions because the conferences are anything but balanced in terms of strength at this point.
If teams like Boise St. want in the playoffs, they need to win vs strong out of their conference opponents or get in a stronger conference.
Translation: strength of schedule needs to be a more important aspect of playoff team selection.
But having said that, Alabama having lost to Vandy and unranked OU, certainly would not be included in a 8 team playoff and they should not feel feel slighted because they would understand that a 3 loss team is not worthy of a 8 team playoff and the same goes for any of the 3 loss teams.

The 15,16,17 and 20th ranked teams still have a shot to get in.

The 11th team can be booted by one of them.
*Bama if Clemson wins and they keep SMU also (unlikely). UNLV wins and they keep Boise above Bama.

The 12th team, maybe can squeek in.

The 13th team has no real shot.

Boise/UNLV is super wild card game.

There are 134 FBS teams so the 6 left out will still bitch that they should have been in.

Which means we have nothing to gain from having Clemson on our schedule every year, and everything to lose.

Absolutely do NOT take this to mean I do not want us playing Clemson every year, but it's just fact at this point.

Said it the other night, but you could keep a 10 game all conference schedule for seeding. 128 team playoff winner is still playing the same 17 game season.

Also, #129 through 134 would still manage to cry foul. So...

The only way to end the crying is include all 128 (or whatever) teams thereby making the playoffs meaningless.

Those wanting an expansion to 14 teams don't realize that wont prevent 15-16 from whining about how they deserve to be in over (*insert team that would have never in a million years made the 4 team playoff*)

In the old systems...

There would only be a couple of games that really mattered this weekend.

With this one... All of them do.

With the old system. After this weekend we have to sit for three weeks watching meaningless bowls before we actually get to the playoffs.

With this one... we only have to sit through Army Navy/Heisman weekend.

With the old system... teams that got left out continue to bitch until next season.

With this one... as you say... once the playoffs start... nobody is going to pay attention to #13... they will play their bowl game and once the playoffs start... even their fans will realize it is stupid to keep whining.
