It's almost like Bama and the rest of the powers on that chart get all the primetime TV slots. Of course TV viewership will be up in afternoon/ night games so that is totally irrelevant. Every Gamecock fan that ever lived will pour money into this playoff and Bama/Notre Dame ratings wouldn't be much different than SC/Notre Dame if it's the only game on at whatever time it's played. The $$$ argument is stupid.

Plus Bama fatigue is a real thing. Wasn’t a recent Bama/Georgia national title game one of the lowest in terms of ratings in recent years?

Agreed. Bama fans will not travel themselves with this squad given all they've accomplished over the last 15 years. We have one of the best fan bases in the country as even in our worst years you'd hear media saying that. They expanded the playoff to get new blood in the mix. Let's see if they allow it to actually happen.

No one in America will tune in specifically to watch South Carolina.

All of college football tunes in to watch Bama even if it’s only because they hope they’ll lose.

Bama won head to head.
Bama is ranked higher in FEI.
Bama has better wins (5, 13, 23 + LSU) vs (12, 20, 23)
Bama has much better ratings.

Neither team has a perfect resume but I’d be more pissed at IU getting a bid with zero ranked wins than Bama.

Oh I agree but I'm resigned to the fact Indiana will fraudulently get in. Yall have worse losses and worst one was 8 days ago. We played week 6. It'll be interesting to see what happens

bullshite. Alabama vs Notre Dame in a playoff game would do way better than South Carolina vs Notre Dame.

You’re underestimating the new story factor. People wouldn’t tune in FOR South Carolina but casuals would tune in for interesting new stories.

Like last year people didn’t tune in necessarily for FOR Washington but they did for the newness factor of them vs Michigan in a championship.

Last year had best ratings since 2019

Michigan Washington numbers

Think UGA was most watched 3 games going into this week.

UGA was most watched 4 out of 12 weeks.

Bama
Texas
KY
Tenn

Interested to see which game was most watched this week.

There’s a group who would watch no matter what. But then there’s also a large swath of casual fans who turn on just to watch a marque matchup.

For example, I’m not a big CBB fan. But, if I’m flipping through the channels and see Duke-UNC on, I’ll stop to watch.

Regardless, time slots play a factor in that. We constantly got the noon game. Only night game was A&M and those ratings were fantastic

That’s impressive. Lots of folks tune into UGA and Alabama, the two programs that draw the most eyes according to these ratings. We were at the top quite a bit last year, too.

The Dawgs were either #1 or #2 in viewership in 7 of the first 11 games this season, and was #3 in viewership vs Clemson in week 1.

The two most watched games of the season involved UGA (@Texas, @Alabama). The Tennessee game ranked fourth most viewed of the season (or the most watched by several million that weekend).

I agree Bama/ND ratings would be better, I'm just saying it wouldn't be some astronomical difference

You have lost your mind. Bama has more fans inside the state of Alabama than SC has inside the state of South Carolina, but Bama also has a national following in the millions.

Home, Bama sold out every game during the Shula and Dubose era. At least bring facts to the table.

No surprise here. Michigan has a large fanbase and people wanted to see the new B1G addition.

Try to follow my point. Back then, you were starving for a title much like us. Yall have had so much success in the past 15 years, die hards have probably seen multiple title games at this point and don't wanna shell out the same funds for a 3 loss Bama team this year

This. SC was 0-2 against other teams in the playoff conversation in conference. One was a home blowout loss. The last second win over Missouri wasn't impressive either. You beat a bunch of also rans, who cares?

But we didn't lose to any scrubs as recently as 8 days ago.

Congratulations? You needed last minute heroics to beat Missouri and Old Dominion at home. While not losses, those are strikes against your resume that don't help to offset the lack of high level wins.
