So, how does Alabama finish the regular season if Saban had stayed?

Mind you, he's another year older than last year.
I'd say 10-2. Could have still been 9-3.
I'll chalk up the Tennessee game as an L. Vanderbilt was gonna be trickier than expected, but I think we could have found a way to an ugly W. Oklahoma was just plain awful. Not sure if Saban could have been a 3 TD difference.

We don't lose the Vandy game because he would have adjusted.
The other two I'm not so sure.

I think we would have finished 11-1 or 12-0.
Call me a sunshine pumper, but a lot of the problems we had this year were due to depth - most of which transferred out after Saban announced his retirement. Saban is the master of player psychology. We likely don't lose to Vanderbilt after the win over Georgia and I highly doubt we lose to Oklahoma either. The only game that we lost that I think still could have been a loss if Saban had stayed was at Tennessee.

There are way too many variables to even make a guess in my opinion. If Saban stays who is the OC? Does that unknown OC call the same masterclass first half against UGA? So maybe we lose to UGA and then rebound and beat Vandy. Too many unknowns.

Vanderbilt is a win. Tennessee is probably a win
OU depends if Rees prevents Milroe from turning it over. The Vandy option stuff they pulled probably never happens
I’d say 11-1, maybe a Georgia or South Carolina loss

I’ll say 11-1. Vandy would have almost for certain never happened. That one is solely on the coaching staff for not being able to make in game adjustments

I say 11-1 at worst.
We could have easily won all 3 games, but the offense let us down more so than the D in 2 of those games. I don't think we lose to Vandy, but they were scrappy as hell.
Defense played well enough to beat UT, but we could not do anything offensively. Same against OU.
As ready as I am for the Milroe experiment to be over, Kid has played for a new OC every year and learned a new offense this year. Had Rees stayed this year maybe Milroe and Rees do better, maybe not.......but I think things would have been better under Saban.
Having said that. We had nowhere to go but down after the GOAT retired.
I am still hopeful of Deboer doing well. He has a chance to win 10 games his first year.
Kirby went 8-5 his first year. Sark went 5-7 then 8-5
I have high hopes.

I agree with this. We probably would have finished 10-2.

Assuming Milroe was returning, I had initially forecast three losses for Saban, taking into account his narrow margin of victory against three inferior teams last season.

11-1.
Saban would have actually had the team ready for Vanderbilt and Oklahoma, unlike the current coaching staff.

Another factor is we probably keep all of our DB’s including Downs

This.
Saban made going 11-1 look easy for 20 years

A disaster season was two losses for Saban not including the playoffs obviously.
The lack of discipline on the field, the antics, the lack of preparation, the playing down to inferior opponents... I was shocked to see all the people giving DeBoer a good grade for this season.
Steve Spurrier would have been rotating every QB with a pulse until he found someone with their head pulled out of their arse every Saturday.
I think if Saban stays there is a good chance Milroe transfers before the season. No way Saban would have put up with that pre season media blitz Milroe went on.

He wins Vandy, drops the other two. Saban was understandably tired and low energy at the end.

10-2 or 11-1
We were always dropping rocky top. Those refs would never let us leave there with a win. Just ask Saban from two seasons ago

No doubt. Saban and Downs were close, and Bama made the 4 team playoff so not like Saban wasn't getting the best out of what we had to work with.
Bond wanted to improve his stock with a real QB; same could be said of any safety looking to prepare for the NFL- what was Downs going to practice all season at Bama, defending the "deep ball."
Dumbing down the offense to color by numbers level for Milroe has a negative impact on the entire team at nearly every position.

And yet he dragged the entire team to the playoffs, and was one competent QB away from winning yet another title.
I'd take Saban at 80 years old over DeBoer in his prime with the caveat that Saban gets to pick his coordinators.

You think Saban would have allowed 5-5 Oklahoma to beat Bama with a playoff spot on the line ?
ZERO chance Saban allows Bama to lose that game IMO

Maybe we'd have eked out Vandy although that was just their night (we were arse but it was their night). But we're not sniffing top five in the polls with the QB play like we had. And I'll say again, Saban did it with mirrors in 2023, it's not realistic to expect even the GOAT to do it with mirrors two years in a row.

11-1 at the worst, but had Saban stayed, we probably don’t lose many to the portal, especially not Downs.
