Idk why Mack Brown keeps doing this to himself.

It's the same cycle every stop. The real question is why does he keep getting chances. He and Gus need to retire.

Honestly, his record during this tenure with UNC isn’t that bad. But given his age, I guess it’s obvious they’ll only get so far with him. He did well enough in his first couple of years that the Tar Heels had some pretty high expectations that were never met. But that’s a recurring theme with them. Always one of the “sleeping giants” that never seems to wake up.

Huge buyouts?

Mack Brown is 73. Surely this is the end of his career. It is a shame he couldn’t go out on his own terms.

Mack is like one these old rock bands that keeps hanging around. They keep making music, but the "hunger" is not there anymore. And yet they don't see it.

Mack got fired?
I wish he had just walked away into the sunset. He's a good guy but his dang ego is bigger than his Dad's was.
Darn shame, when you get a certain age ... Mack just needed to step back and ask himself, "what would he do if he were the AD?"
Oh well. God Bless'im. He really is a good guy though.

Mack Brown Buy-outs:
UNC - 2024 - $2.8 Million
Texas - 2014 - $2.75 Million
He's been fired twice, and has made over $5.5 Million for being too mediocre to retain.

Wow. I remember when that was an issue in letting Mack go.
A measly 2.75 mil.

Pleas please please don't hire him ESPN. His voice is nails on a chalkboard for me.

I didn’t say it wasn’t his own fault. But it is still a shame. He certainly isn’t the first nor will he be the last who couldn’t read the writing on the wall and realize it was time to retire.

He may have saved Bama from having to replace Saban earlier than retirement.
I was worried about Texas money, although Bama's not a bad place to coach if the pieces fit well.
