Auburn already has commitments from eight of the top 10-ranked players, according to the 247 rankings. Offord and Enterprise DE Zion Grady are both currently committed to Ohio State.
#2 rated DB in land Offord from 6A Parker High School in Alabama is set to announce between Ohio State, Auburn and Oregon any day now. He was in Auburn for the Texas A&M game. On3 has Offord at 70% chance to flip to Auburn which would have Freeze possibly landing 9 out of top 10 in state.
I never seen anything like this with in state recruiting while Saban was at Bama. Is Deboer even recruiting in state?

Saban really didn't recruit the state that much after the 08 class. He would take from the top 5 if he liked them. Bryce Young(CA), Derrick Henry(FL), Tua (HI), etc..... he recruited more nationally than any previous coach at Bama.

Now with the NIL, I think it may be great to recruit closer to home. Hopefully building a roster with players more willing to stick it out and develop and stay closer to home and not hitting the portal as often.

Y'all keep doing that please. We will take the state

I'm glad. Yall are only good when you have a team full of Georgia boys. Not a knock on your instate recruits, it's just the way it's been.

Nick Saban heavily recruited the state of Alabama, especially when it had serious talent like this class does. You don’t just do that for current players, you also do it for relationships going forward and future recruits. Alabama always seemed to win the battle for the top guys and roughly a 65/35 split for the top 10, but Hugh Freeze has taken it over.

And Florida.
Chizik made a splash in Texas for a few years.
Auburn has always been that center section between Alabama, Georgia, and Florida. We’re the closest school to Gainesville in the SEC, literally less than an hour from Columbus, and within the state lines of Alabama.
But to OP’s observation: yes, we are dominating in-state recruiting this cycle. This has typically meant a shift in the performance of the two schools. Chizik and Harsin prove that when you focus too much on out-of-state talent, you lose a grip on the heart of what makes college football great. There is a culture at each program, each conference, and each region. You can only stray so far from that until you start running into problems. Especially when adversity hits: do you want your players to wish for home as an escape or to recognize that they are home to fight?
NIL and the transfer portal are changing things though.

Bama is saving their NIL money for DeBoners buyout.

I will not argue with this strategy. If Auburn gets the top players in the state, history shows they can win it all. Coach Stallings was high on recruiting the state.
Then if you can add a few from FL, GA you have some really good players.

Deboer isn't a southern guy. He has gotten a lot of West Coast guys. That will make him crash and burn worse then he already has.

Because he hated recruiting and it was the easiest path.

WTF are you talking about?
Class of 2023: Bama signed #s 2, 3, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 21, snd 72 in the state
Class of 2022: Bama signed #s 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 11, and 43 in the state
Class of 2021: Bama signed #s 1, 2, 8, 16, and 22 in the state
Class of 2020: Bama signed #s 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12, snd 136 in the state
Class of 2019: Bama signed #s 4, 5, 7, 11, 68, 68, 95, and 131 in state
That’s an average of 8 kids per year from the state of Alabama, and 66% of those were NOT Top 5 in the state that year.
DeBoer having just 2 kids committed from the state and NONE being in the Top 10 is a major departure from the norm.

We tried to warn Bama fan, that it is best to get someone from big time football (Big 10 and SEC).
Deboer does not have his OC and it is clear he needs him.

Saban would take from the top 5 if he thought it would provide him advantage. He didn't have to "like them," merely denying a competitor a key player that they needed was enough ... same as Bear.
Saban (and the machine) had stronger HS coach relations ... and bama still owns some of those, but other coaches have made inroads since Saban's announcement that he was leaving (especially LSU) ... even before Deboers arrived.
It is strongly rumored that Offord (#6 CB) will flip from the Buckeyes to AU ... big, huge "get" if it happens

This is one of the biggest BS statements I have seen on the Rant. You make Bama fans look bad with this kind of statement. Pompous and wrong. All because you didn't want to cede a point from the poster that your "little brother" is having a good year in state for now.
Silly.
Silly.

I hope their recruiting guru that landed Ryan Williams stays away from our recruits. ….
100% he already called Deboer yesterday.

Nobody ever accused Freeze of being a bad recruiter.
