This probably doesn’t deserve its own thread, but considering I’m being downvoted for calling this out, I have to call you fools out. Do yall really believe Spencer Pennington was better than anyone not named Brandon Avalos? Are you folks serious? I know you’re emotional right now, but is this serious?

Folks don’t remember we used to have baseball players playing football. A rb playing qb doesn't not equal a baseball player playing qb.

I’m being downvoted, but nobody is speaking up for the great Spencer Pennington? Wonder why that is?

Pennington was pretty bad. Milroe is better just because of the random good games he has. Pennington never had a good game

I 100% believe I was better.

This is correct. Milroe could be the most inconsistent quarterback at Bama since the 90s. But he’s been very good in about 75% of his games.
Pennington was more consistent. He played poorly 100% of the time

It could’ve just been the lack of talent surrounding you, lol

That’s what I say. And that I was too focused on baseball…or something.

Milroe is the worst starting QB since then by FAR.

Pennington was a walk on QB for a Bama team that had zero depth due to scholarship restrictions.
Milroe is a multimillionaire on scholarship playing for a team loaded with talent.
I get that's not the argument but ffs one of these is not like the other.

You wrote a whole paragraph. You telling me that was all “hyperbole”?

One big difference. Pennington wasn’t getting paid 2.5 million a year.

I am acquainted with Spencer but been years since we’ve talked. He’s a good guy. He was a good trooper for that team in 2004. Played with a lot of injuries that would’ve sidelined him if there was literally anyone better after Croyle went down. I believe he played with a concussion in the Minnesota game.

Criticism of Milroe doesn’t bother me. Telling me Spencer Pennington was a better quarterback than Milroe is just annoyingly stupid. But apparently it was all emotional ”hyperbole” and not meant to be taken seriously.

This time last year, there were people on this board ranking Milroe near the top of the Saban Era quarterbacks. Now the take is that he's better than a third string walk-on who would never have been on the roster without scholarship restrictions.
But if you want to compare, Pennington never had a game with three interceptions.

I’m not sure the last time a QB had 3 INTs and no TDs. It’s gotta be a long, long time.

Ummm…no, heck no. I went to school with you and know people that caught your passes (well, in practice at least). You were not better than Milroe, but he is average at best (and would be bad if he wasn’t so athletic).
