How Texas got its schedule

The SEC elected to play an 8 game schedule this year.
The SEC decided to eliminate divisions.
The SEC scheduled each team with 3 historic rivals. For Texas that was Oklahoma, Arkansas, and 8&4. So SEC schedulers had 5 other teams out of a remaining 11 (after rivalries) from which to schedule games for each team. (Georgia, Florida and USC have out of conference rivalry games as their last game).
It is because of the rivalries that Alabama plays Tennessee and LSU.
Thats why Tennessee plays Georgia.
Thats why Florida plays Georgia.
Thats why Ole Miss plays LSU.
Did the teams in the top half of the conference really want to add Texas, who beat Alabama at their place last year and made the 4 team playoff, in addition to playing their traditional rivals (most of whom also happen to be in the top half of the conference)?
The SEC was actually looking out for its big brands by not adding Texas to their schedules (save Georgia, of course). It’s Texas rivals that haven’t pulled their weight this year and that has nothing to do with Texas. All we can do is win.
Oh, and we play all of our rivals on the road. The schedulers did Texas no favors.

None of what you said explains why texas got kentucky, arkansas, vanderbilt, and MSU while the other newcomer in OU got LSU, ole miss, AU, and tennessee

It doesn't matter. Schedules will rotate.
But it doesn't change the fact that Texas has played a weak schedule and lost to the best team they played badly @ home.
In the end, I'm not sure why a Texas fan thinks they understand SEC scheduling. Alabama and LSU are not rivals, Alabama and Auburn are.
Tennessee and Georgia aren't really rivals, except that they've both been in the SEC East since 1992 which means they play each other every year. They rarely played before then. Tennessee's rivals are Alabama and Vandy.

And Texas had no say in any of this.
If we did, we'd be playing 9 conference games and shite like Mercer and Furman wouldn't be allowed.

Georgia = Ole Miss
A&M = Tennessee
Vandy = LSU
Arkansas = Auburn
LSU sucks and Vandy actually beat Bama. Stop crying

Like every other SEC team that occasionally beats Alabama, the Texas Longhorns are still clinging to that victory. They are quickly becoming a true SEC team.

Our schedule is pretty simple imo.
P1: Oklahoma
P2: Texas A&M (LSU*)
P3: Arkansas (Missouri*)
R1: Georgia or Alabama
R2: Florida or Auburn
R3: Vanderbilt or Tennessee
R4: Kentucky or South Carolina
R5: Miss State or Ole Miss
* When a 9th game is added:
R6: LSU or Missouri
I personally think 1 game should have been switched this year.
Ole Miss or Tennessee should have been switched with Miss State or Vanderbilt. This would have created a more balanced schedule imo between Oklahoma and Texas, but I also understand why it didn't happen. They used a 10 year window to compare records, and Miss State had more SEC wins than Ole Miss during that time period.. and Tennessee flat out sucked during that 10 year window.

It’s wild Texas fans can’t admit their schedule has been soft.

Texas is undefeated against Alabama when our starting QB doesn't get injured in the 1st Quarter.
8-2-1 All Time Record.
2 Losses
2009 - Colt McCoy
2022 - Quinn body slammed on a dirty hit. Texas would have won this game anyways if the ref's knew how to call a safety.

There's 28 threads about it now. Texas fans don't deny it, but we do explain it.

It's definitely been soft.. but most Texas fans go back to quotes from previous years when y'all would say our schedule was so easy compared to the SEC Gauntlet, where teams never had an easy schedule..
My opinion: The SEC is definitely the best conference.
My opinion: Almost every team in the SEC plays great defense.
My opinion: There are some really bad offenses in the SEC this year.
My opinion: We are beatable, but it's hard to beat this Texas team. The defense is really good, and the offense does enough to win in most games. Against Georgia, Texas turned the ball over 4 times and gave Georgia short field after short field. I think we will have a different game plan if we get a rematch. Georgia clearly did their homework and played Texas perfectly.. props to them. Georgia also turned the ball over, but our offense wasn't able to capitalize on them, so they didn't really have an impact much different than a punt.

Nobody with a brain thinks Texas' schedule is their fault. They didn't line things up or force Michigan and Oklahoma to be bad. However, intent is irrelevant. Alabama has scheduled tons of early season matchups with teams that at the time scheduled and the time of the game were Top 5/10 teams (2008 Clemson, 2012 Michigan, 2013 Virginia Tech, 2017 Florida State, 2021 Miami, etc.) that ended up flopping and providing no value to us whatsoever. It wasn't our fault, but it's how it goes some years.

Once again. Texas had a WEAK schedule.
Made up of weaker SEC teams.
Keep in mind, when Texas wins out including the CG vs whomever loses the flip. We still won't have beaten all of the SEC, but we will have beaten a team who beat your team.
Funny huh?

quote:Guess you missed the statement by the SEC back when the schedules were released. They were determined based on performance the past 10 seasons (we wandered the wilderness for most of that) and preserving rivalries when possible.
