Than bad losses. That’s why ole miss is above UT but behind Bama: losses are used as a tiebreaker for teams with similar wins (UGA and SCar) but won’t move a team with 2 good wins behind a team with 1. It’s also why UGA will probably slip ahead of Ole Miss because they have 3 good wins.
Hard to see any of these other teams making it to the playoff without a conference championship or chaos.
Texas - 0 ranked wins
UT - 1 ranked win
A&M - 1 ranked win
SCar - 1 ranked win

Texas loses to A&M and they are out

Committee cares about viewers and money. Texas base is more money. Big 10 is more viewers and money. This isn't about the best teams...

Texas won’t lose to aTm.

Ironically Texas would be better off losing to UK than A&M. At least they would get a quality win that way

If Kentucky wins in Austin and Texas still makes the CFP, I won't even watch. No self-respecting fan would support such a team

The rankings prove the committee does NOT care about quality wins.

Actually ... at the time UofSC played them, there are three ranked wins.
A&M, Vandy and Mizzou. Two of those are still ranked. Clemson will also be ranked this giving The UofSC a chance for a 4th ranked win, including another one on the road. (x2)
And The UofSC has the 6th ranked SOS as of now. It may go up after the trip to taterville.
Losses wise ... LSU is killing us. (Thanks refs ... but we had our opportunities to overcome the game changing calls.) Bama is a good loss by the CFP metric. Ole Miss was a bad loss at home.

I don’t see how Texas could lose to A&M this year. My oldest kid goes to A&M so I try to keep up with them. They have a lot of their best players gone who are now out for the rest of the season. Their 2 best running backs are out, their best receivers are out, several of their best OL are out, and some injuries on defense. Just not sure they can pull off a win with such a depleted roster.

I think the committee put a lot of stock on
recent form. A loss early in the season
has less weight than a loss in November.
In other words, they want teams in good
form for the playoffs.

I think you are right. They don’t care about SOS or H2H very much. They are looking at overall record in the B1G and SEC first, regardless of SOS or H2H, after conference champions are decided. Both of those conferences will have 3 in and one or both will get 4.
At the end, there will be 2-3 teams left out that are better than 2-3 that get selected. But the committee and TV won’t care. They will expect fans to just accept that they got 9-10 of the teams right and say it’s fairer than the previous system.

SCAR has 2 ranked wins, TAMU and Mizzou. If SCAR beats Clem and Mizzou stays ranked, SCAR will have 3 ranked wins on the season.
