ESPN drops Tennessee to first team out of College Football Playoff bracket after Georgia.

With a Freshman Quarterback, I don't believe any real Vol fan expected to make the playoff this year, anyway (at least not at the beginning of the season). If UT finishes the season 10-2, it would be considered a successful season in my eyes.

If Tennessee finishes 10-2 they should be in the playoff. Things will change between now and selection day. Teams will lose conference championship games and there will be upsets.

Yeah I am sure none of these teams in front of Tennessee will lose with rivalry week coming up.

Well he isn't a true freshman, and as much as he is earning we are right to expect to at least be a top 12 team. And we still could be. Lot of dominoes could fall during the next two weeks.

Maybe. If they don't, it highlights the fact that scheduling teams like UTEP for an easy win undermines your SOS and scheduling actually does matter.

Tennessee’s best shot barring upset elsewhere is Texas to lose to A&M then have A&M blown out by Bama in SECCG. In one game both Texas schools would be delegitamized and UT would be elevated by their win over Bama.

I think UT has looked different this year and Heupel has really legitimized himself to the haters like me. There are no gimmicks in year 4.
That defense is the real deal and, offensive struggles aside, Tenn has been a solid, consistent team all season long. Not looking fwd to facing Nico 3.0 on the road next year

meh, not necessarily consiering the logjam of other 10-2 SEC teams. I mean look at UT's resume and what do we really have?
-through 10 games they've played 2 teams worth a shite and went 1-1 against them
-they had an additional loss to a pitiful arkansas team that will finish near the bottom of the league standings
-UT has only played 3 games in an opponent stadium and lost 2 of them. This is a team that has played a shitton of home games and benefitted accordingly
The teams they'll be competing against will likely have better wins and better losses. The ONLY thing you can really point to for UT is "they beat alabama" which don't get me wrong is great for the resume. But that's it..that's the only feather in their cap. Everything else about their resume ranges from blah to outright bad.

Florida is coming around a little bit and making that win look a little better. Not enough to count for anything, but it does look a little better. Especially if they wind up and beat Ole Miss this weekend.
