Could an undefeated Pac-12 team get a bye week in
the playoffs next year?
1. Oregon State University
2. Washington State University
3. Boise State University
4. Colorado State University
5. Fresno State University
6. San Diego State University
7. Utah State University
8. Gonzaga University (non-football)
9. University of Nevada Las Vegas

My question is, could WSU crash the party THIS year?

I have basically heard nobody talk about Washington state grabbing a playoff spot. They have one loss to a good Boise team and play nobody the rest of the season, they can get in.

Pretty decent basketball conference right there.

No, does not constitute a conference

I don't know -- doesn't CFP have a spot for conf champ of the PAC 12?
And these conferences are different sizes, with different level of competition, different rules for awarding the conference championship.
I don't think the CFP is set up quite right this year after the implosion of the PAC-12. PAC-12 now is pretty much a bunch of G5 or lower football programs.
SMH.

Isn’t there a 12 team minimum or something?

A conference must have 6 members per the playoff committee
Posted on 11/5/24 at 9:48 am to Smokeyone
6? Damn they should have to play everyone in conference twice then
Posted on 11/5/24 at 9:52 am to Smokeyone
PAC-12 has 7 members now. 5 of them are old Mountain West teams. I think it shouldn't be considered as part of the 5 conf champs CFP committee will choose from -- anymore than the MAC or the AAC should.
or ... is "5 conf champs" just any champ from any NCAA conference? they just take the top 5 ranked champs?
Doesn't seem right.

Twenty-plus days ago, on Oct. 1, Gonzaga also joined the remade league, bringing total Pac-12 membership to eight universities, though another football sponsoring school was — and is still — needed if the Pac-12 is to be a viable FBS conference going forward.
Where are things with Pac-12 Expansion?
Posted on 11/5/24 at 9:57 am to UGAXXX
They could if they were the 4th highest ranked conference champion.

If the ACC implodes Cal and Stanford are back in the conference plus Boise State would beat anyone in the Big 12
