while #5 says "don't listen to the doubters"....... I think that is part of the problem. Coach needs to make the change. Will he? If they(McCarron and Mac) can see it, you know he does.....

DeBoer needs to play whichever QB he thinks gives the team the best chance to win the game. Period. He gets paid a lot of money to make that decision. He shouldn't let media or ex-players or even posters on this message board do it for him. If he thinks the best option is Milroe, then play him. If he doesn't, then he should bench him and start whoever the better option is.

He's going to do whatever he is going to do. One thing he should not do is listen to fans and commentators.

What did Mac say? I thought it was just AJ?

quote:
"There was a bunch of times where I feel like Jalen -- and this has been a problem for a couple years now -- Jalen sometimes snaps the ball without a plan," McElroy said Tuesday on WJOX. "Every snap there has to be a plan. The what-ifs. The what-if checklist on every snap. ... I just want Jalen to play and snap the ball with a plan as opposed to reacting and appearing surprised every time he drops back and there's, like, crazy pressure."
Basically that Milroe didn't have a plan when he comes to the line.

GMac has concerns, but I think he is too “political” to call for his benching

DeBoer is a smart guy. Ill trust his judgement

This is a terrifying statement.

It's pretty self-evident watching his play.

He is throwing the ball to the primary receiver regardless

Don't get your hopes up. The staff and players have essentially already said they're sticking with Milroe. And likely he will look better as playing worse defenses over the back half of the season masks some of his deficiencies. Williams will be open more, more of the one read plays will work, there will be more running lanes. He will hit wide open passes with the receiver leaving his feet to catch the under or over throw, and he'll get that passer rating back up so that his fans can delude themselves. Then if they run into a good defense at some point, he will look as he has against every good defense save Georgia. People will wonder why he's "regressed" when in fact nothing has changed.

I don't understand the refusal to just give Simpson a few series. It makes zero sense. Milroe has played bad enough to be benched. Hell, Sark benched Ewers for Manning in the first half of the UGA game. Yet here we are banging our head against a brick wall wondering why it still hurts.

Not sure i want AJ and GMac having a say in who plays QB at BAMA.
They're obviously entitled to their opinion, but having DeBoer come out and say, "Welp, the pundits have spoken. I'm making a change at QB because former QBs at BAMA want me to" would be the softest shite a coach could ever say.

I think AJ and GmMac are only giving their opinions. I doubt either one of them think a coach is listening to their radio show or podcast.

It's not about them having a say. It's the fact that you've got two highly intelligent QBs who know the game, slamming Milroe and talking about how terrible he's been for two seasons now.
Clearly they've been thinking this the whole time, and now feel justified in saying it out loud.
It's time to end the Milroe era and move on.

What he means is Milroe doesn't go through his PSL (pre-snap look) to see where he should go with the ball depending on the defense being lined up against us.
Due to this when he snaps he literally tries to read after the ball hits his hands.
That makes him slower to get rid of the ball when we get blitzed because he is still going through his reads instead of seeing a blitz come from the left and knowing he has to go to the RB hitting the flat immediately
