Both Northeastern guys who broke in through the small college ranks. Obvious there’s a mutual respect from Elko’s time working under Kelly.

IDK about that. There was a reason Elko made a lateral move to A&M DC. No clue what it was, but all my ND friends were absolutely floored that he made the jump.
I think he would have had the same HC opportunities if he had stayed at ND, so there was something about BK, either personal or how BK ran his program, that prompted Elko to leave.
Don’t kid yourself, Elko is extremely intelligent and has an elite attention to detail. He knows there is a crack in BKs system that he will try to exploit.
We will see on Saturday if the Jimmys and Joes can execute Elko’s Xs and Os plan against LSU

A&M has better facilities, allocates more resources to football, and has a better recruiting footprint, they also paid him more.
One of the reasons BK left Notre Dame is his assistants were constantly getting poached because Notre Dame wouldn't pay them top dollar.
This seems to have changed with Freeman's hire of Mike Denbrock.

I think that probably has something to do with ND wanting to stick it to Kelly.

Could be. Yet you could also equate that to the same reason why Kelly left ND for the same position at an SEC school.

ND wasn’t paying him $1.8m guaranteed A&M paid as a coordinator. I don’t think it’s complicated.

And to add to that Jimbo with Elko was ranked 5th in the nation any the end of the season. Jimbo without Elko didn’t win their bowl game. Or didn’t make one.

I don’t know about light years, but in terms of actual age years, Kelly 15 years older.
