Greg McElroy Talks Football With Colt McCoy

They get right to the point at the beginning of the video.

Summary: McCoy says you never know (Texas was the underdog against a Saban coached team), but he wishes he could have finished the game.

The Texas helmet McElroy displays in his office came from the Texas sports information director, and he actually did include a joking note that things would have been different if Colt...

I never see Gumps saying "Man I wish we'd played Texas at full strength."

Deep down they know they'd have gotten destroyed if Colt played.

Meh. We were both handicapped in that game. Colt got hurt and McElroy could barely pass because he had cracked ribs. You supposedly had the #1 rushing defense in college football and both Ingram and Richardson rushed for over 100 yards and two touchdowns.

Sounds like Georgia fans Everytime they didn't make the BCS or CFP

"Trust me...nobody wanted to play that 9-3 Georgia team at the end of the year. We woulda demolished the NC... Look what we did to Hawaii in the Citrus Bowl..."

Well, if you watch the video (I know - who cares), I think McCoy thinks Texas would have won with him at the helm. He just doesn't say it outright, but the body language and overall contextual clues give it away.

You haven't paid any attention, then. Your back up came in and did great, bc we hadn't made an entire month of preparation for him.

We would have beaten that soggy texas team 9 out of 10 times.

Garret Gilbert was 15-40 for 186 yards and 4 interceptions. It was 24-21 game with 8 minutes left in game. It would have been different game minus all the turnovers and incompletions. We will never know how it would have turned out, however Bama running game and Turnovers was difference in game.

You think Gilbert did great in that game?

His stats.

He completed 15 passes to Texas WR's
He completed 4 passes to Alabama players

15/40 186 yards 2 TD 4 INT

21.4 QBR

I'm not gonna argue whether we would have won the game or not, but to say Gilbert was good is downright stupid. Yes, your QB had similar numbers.. but that doesn't mean that either of them were good.

They would have beaten LSU that year but didn’t earn the right to be there.

Colt lead 2 drives for what 2 field goals? Averaged 3 yards per play with one drive taking 10 plays to go 37 yards.

The narrative is dumb, it was a grind for the Texas offense even with him out there

Funny to learn that you'd read a biography about a tu player.

I read every autobiography of a football player I can get my hands on, especially if that player is Christian.

Legit win by Bama as injuries are part of the game and Texas was woefully unprepared for any scenario that didn't have the entire team rotating around their starting QB.
Obviously, the game would have unfolded differently with McCoy which is not to say we win. It's worth noting that we were within 3 points with 3 minutes to go in the game with a brutal backup QB who accounted for 5 turnovers (by memory).

One of the biggest what ifs in CFB history. I couldn't imagine Burrow getting hurt in the first quarter against Clemson.

I assume Colt wouldn't throw 4 INTs and if they had a threat for the pass, it would have opened up their ability to run. They became one dimensional.

I think even with the turnovers, Texas ended up with more yards than Alabama and McElroy ended up with 58 yards in the air.

It would have been very close.

Lay off the , BigBro. It makes your valid points harder to accept because it puts people on the defensive due to high trolling energy it puts off.

If you want to laugh at something, use this or this

Edit: Dang, 15 completions to 4 INTs, and it was still a close game? Wow, Texas' defense must have been good.
