Can someone explain her to me? How is she trotted out on espn as the playoff expert. Has she ever said anything remotely revealing or insightful

Why even waste anyone’s time. Just have the show’s host pontificate that Ohio state can’t lose three games or whatever

Does she fill some sort of quota?

Nah, she actually knows her stuff. Not sure I'd call her an "expert", but she's just as dialed in as many of her male counterparts.

That's not to say there arent some DEI types in sports broadcasting, (there are) but she isn't one of them.

Bull fricking shite. They randomly started using her as the “CFB Playoff expert” back when it started and she provided zero insight at all. Prior to that, her role was basically that of a blogger covering the ACC.

She seemed to have an inside scoop last year when FSU got left out, but prior to 2023 I had never heard her provide useful info, ever.

She is in that role because she is a woman.

I’m curious. What does she really know

“Rece, losing to Oregon really puts pressure on Ohio state to not lose to Penn state. Or lose to Rutgers or whoever.”

That’s plugged in?

She's the reporter they have assigned to cover the college football playoff committee.

Calling her an expert is disingenuous on their part. Someone is either supposed to develop sources and break news by reporting a story and explaining the thinking of the person at the center of the story. Or they are supposed to analyze news reported by someone else by giving their own opinion on the subject in question. It's unethical to do both, but ESPN breaks those rules all the time and this is one of those cases.

They send her to CFP summer camp every year so she sits through all the journos' hand-holding class of the mock selections.

That may be true, (got the position cuz she's female) but it doesnt mean the insights of her male colleagues is any more insightful or accurate. Show biz is all bullshite, and that includes sports.

She knows a heck of a lot more about football than Alyssa Lang. Yesterday, Lang was asked about Heisman candidates and mentioned 3 players, none of which was Jeanty.

She hangs out the Gaylord Texan with the Selection Committee every weekend. That’s her only qualification.
