LSU moves up 5 spots and Ole Miss moves down 9 for a game won in OT?
All for shitting on Ole Miss, but I don't see how you rank LSU and Ole Miss 9 spots apart after a game like last night. Especially when you drop Ohio State down 2 spots?

Might have more to do with the Kentucky loss after they lost to Vandy

It's your 2nd loss.
The voters are kind of dumb and look at record before anything else. If you want something different, then look at power rankings.

This.
UTk has a right to bitch more than Ole Miss for sliding after a win in a rivalry game they don't win very often in over the last couple of decades.

This is what happens when you let a bunch of people with journalism degrees have an opinion.

one team has 2 SEC losses
the other team has 1 loss
they are in different groups right now
it isn’t perfect by any means.. and it isn’t the playoff committee either..
but with another loss..

Might have to do with USC taking penn state to the brink of losing.

The difference between 1 and 2 losses is huge in rankings

Has t Ole Miss lost twice?
Posted on 10/13/24 at 2:22 pm to WaydownSouth
Or Bama staying in place while coming a whole lot closer to losing than the Vols while Tennessee drops 3 spots for also coming close to losing to Florida

It’s a popularity contest. Nothing more

Also, penn state wins by 3 in overtime against a 3-2 unranked team, moves up to AP #3. Tennessee wins by 7 in OT against an unranked 3-2 team, drops three spots.

It’s not dissimilar from credit score bucketing. You have your no loss, one loss, and two loss buckets.
Some other teams may have no losses, or one loss, but are considered a ‘thin file’ and are held back.
Come to think of it, the AP is exactly like credit scoring.

In that case, Archibald's right. We're never going to be #1.
