What are y’all’s thoughts on what he says about this coaching staff. Player led team. I’ll hang up and listen.

Edit: thank you RTR

That’s nothing that Saban hasn’t said before and I’ll say this not in defense of Womack but at some point the players are going to have to make a play. If they’re as good as their ranking players make plays. Ryan Williams makes plays, Jalen Milroe makes plays every game. Someone on that defense has got to start making plays period.

Yes and no.

There were times guys weren’t able to drive a guy back, or keep a guy from getting 4-5 yards after contact and getting a first down. A couple made plays and we probably win a close game instead of losing it.

The bigger problem is we’re predictable on defense. Route trees are putting our DB’s in conflict, making them change paths creating separation with receivers.

We’re going to at least occasionally change things up.

This is exactly it. We need more Johnathan Allen “Alabama does” mentality. And maybe somebody to get a Superman sack every now and then.

I heard it loud and clear. It’s disturbing to say the least. A lot of folks are in denial here though.

Depends on the team, which is why I'm skeptical. I think it's somewhat necessary in this era, but at the same time you have to be extremely good at identifying the right kind of kids for your program to make it work consistently.

Go back and watch the Vandy game again. Trying to tackle high. Low man wins apparently isn't a thing anymore. There were more high tackles attempted that resulted in additional yards than I can remember during the Saban years in that one game. Does DeBoer and staff not teach that fundamental?

It was ridiculous. They have been fairly sound and aggressive at tackling up until last Saturday. It was straight up weird what the defense displayed on Saturday. Did they go out on Broadway on Friday night and were hungover? Hard to wrap the mind around what we saw.

I believe that if DeBoer doesn't right the ship, now. The wheels are going to fall off.

There is always a decline from going to the GOAT to a new coach. We all knew that. However, if players let uncertainty/lack of trust creep in...then we will see more loses in close games.

When Saban got to Alabama, he had to teach the guys how to win. We were always in close games until the 4th quarter and then we would melt. I think this can happen in reverse with DeBoer.

We need some Dogs. It’s that simple.

Malachi Moore said the defensive calls were coming in too late for the players to get set and properly implement the calls. That is one reason why he was probably so upset. That is on the coaches. I was glad to see Golding go but I am beginning to think Wommack is worse.

That may be part of it. Are there any on this team? Even back in the dysfunctional DuBose days, there was Shaun and Chris Samuels and maybe Marvin Constant in that category. Do we have any real leaders like that now? I know Booker and Jalen probably try, but are they really “dawgs” of the ilk Saban talked about? Or do they even exist in today’s society?

My exact question after Vanderbilt’s opening drive.

You think they forgot how in a year?

The defense was on their heels on the majority of plays, because they didn’t attack Vandy’s offense. When you’re waiting on the blow instead of delivering it you always lose.
