He seems like he's a good coach but he just can't seem to get over the hump. Does the SC fanbase generally support him or are they getting fed up?

Fed up. Unfortunately that doesn't mean anything here. Fans will still show up for games and he'll get another year.

He whines more than any coach but SC fans are perfectly fine being mediocre

I never liked him. He thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room when he’s usually the dumbest. He hired two OCs worse than anyone Muschamp ever had. I’m fine if we move on this year

Depends on the week. Never seen a more bipolar program as far as coaching and effort.

I'm not an SC fan but I think an SEC gig as his first HC job was a bridge too far.

I feel he would have thrived at JMU, ODU, Liberty, or a place like that in Virginia where the Beamer name carries a lot of weight.

Not a Gamecock fan, but he annoys me. If I were a Gamecock fan, I'd be more than annoyed.

That idiotic fake punt call well inside his own territory when OM had its regular D on the field set the tone for the game.

Yes it did ... but that was just one of three really bad calls he made.

Another was not spelling Sellers with our very capable back-up.

Another was taking the holding penalty (10 yards) after we had just sacked OM's QB for an 8 yard loss ... thus handing OM another down.

And, honestly, he's not getting the job done limiting players' stupid mistakes. Too many and too much of the same old mistakes. Illegal receivers downfield. Taunting. Holding. The list goes on and on.

I'd be willing to bet that we are one of the most penalized programs in the SEC ... and they always seem to be major penalties at the absolute worst times.

And now there's a serious confidence problem. That's not good.

He has a worse SEC record than Will Muschamp at South Carolina. People have semi tolerated it because he's more likeable than Muschamp, but at this point people are getting fed up with it.

I guess it's not getting out how unhappy y'all are. This thread legitimately surprised me. Not that I didn't think a few would be ready to move on but that there are no fans seemingly wanting to hold on to him.

If someone told me to pick the South Carolina of college football coaches, it'd be Beamer.

Its a hand in glove situation-- no one better befits that program than that kind of mercurial underperforming in the moment guy.

Probably the best coach to program match in the country.

I am just waiting for when we stroll into Willy-B with our 3 wins against Wofford and Beamer is chest bumping players after big plays, and we escape to win 30-20.

Well ... yes, to some degree, he's far more relatable and amiable than Muschamp will ever be, that's for sure. But Shane is also a South Carolinian by birth. This is his home. His wife and kids truly love it here, as does Shane.

Also, Muschamp was left a far better roster than Shane inherited. Plus Muschamp didn't have to deal with Spurrier trying to destroy the program in his wake like Shane had to deal with after Muschamp was fired ... encouraging his players to transfer. Disparaging the program on the recruiting trail as that POS Muschamp has done.

And also, we're actually pulling for Shane. We're tired of the merry-go-round. We're well-versed on his father's story at Va Tech, how he was almost fired after his 5th season and how patience paid off in the long run. But being an Independent back then, and later being in the ACC, is not the same as being in the SEC. Shane has a much rougher row to hoe.

That fake punt call will go down as one of the absolute stupidest calls in history. No one else would have tried that in that situation .... it was a uniquely disqualifying decision that Shane has no one to blame for but himself.

It not only changed the game - it may well have completely changed the season AND, worse yet, it may have lasting negative repercussions upon his entire career. That one call ... it was uncalled for.

Just a note Rooster. He did put Robbie in the game and he fumbled it away.
