We are stuck in the Bama era between Stallings and Saban. Saban would not go to Bama unless he had full control of the football program and the rest is history. I remember Mal Moore running around on the sidelines with a headset on before Saban.

Until we get the money men out of the mix, we’ll never get a coach like Saban or Smart.

We had Smart hired but the. “Money Men” wouldn’t let him coach in the NC if we hired him and he wanted to coach in the NC so we moved on and hired Gus and the rest is history. The Smart hire at Auburn was such a done deal that even Finebaum was reporting it.

Well, in a sense, you’re right because we keep hiring clown coaches. That indicates our hiring decisions are not being made soundly. But make no mistake, we are in this situation because of bad coaches.
