Played scared. Did not want to embarrass his alma. Weak coaching on Josh's part.

Those players would go to war for him. No matter what the season holds he has done a helluva job and is an example of a great coach and leader. He was definitely the right hire.

I think yall got a good one Tennessee. Hard not to like Huepel after listening to that.

I respect what he has done at Tennessee, he is a really good coach. You could tell he didn't wanna run the score up against his alma mater, he played conservative in the second half. If CV gets fired one day I think he would crawl through glass to get back to norman .

I believe it was a combination of not wanting to risk injury on a field that ended a career and caused a bunch of injuries already that night. Seeing them honor his nation championship team, emotions from being in Norman again.

Good win, that defense looks nasty and Nico was hitting those guys in stride.

I don’t think it had much to do with him not wanting to run up the score. The pass protection wasn’t good because of the injuries at tackle and the defense was playing their asses off. There was no reason to throw the ball all over the place.

Hard not to like him seems like a regular country boy.

I think he was universally received as a “damn Danny don’t you think it’s a bit lazy to re-hire the coach from the place we just pulled you from?” but he’s proven to be the best coach we’ve had since Fulmer.

It had more to do with 1. OU’s defense being really good and throwing exotic blitz packages at a young qb risking turnovers and 2. UTs defense being nasty and not really worried about OU’s offense being a threat up 2 scores.
The best offense against an attacking, highly aggressive defense is to just run the ball. Even if they stop it, you eventually break a couple and they can’t be so aggressive on the back end. Otherwise you are putting your qb in a really bad spot. The antidote to a Venebles style defense is to run the ball.
