1. Hank played decently. Got the ball out mostly.
2. Simmons is a playmaker.
3. We won.
4. We are kicker U.
5. I did not curse at the TV.
6. Cobb looks like he may earn a bigger role.
7. Basketball season will be here soon.

He played up to expectation. I think he did fine for his first full game. Of course he made mistakes and it should have been expected but it was the right move putting Throne to the pasture.

3. We won.
. Absolutely. Its way better than losing

It is hard to argue

. I did just for fun but honestly I am pretty much numb by now

Yea, he was solid

8. Our plan to play horrible defense in order to get Melendez to see we needed him to commit, well that worked to perfection.

Hank played well. Some of those quick throws he made will be picked off by good defenses. I’m assuming most were designed before the snap.

I am finally dry.

Not sure if y'all could tell by watching at home, but it rained a little.

The rain did help hide the tears of those of us who HATE 3 down linemen defensive fronts. Can we stop please?

I’d rather see a bear front and 1/1 coverage than a light box.

What is with dropping McLeod, Crawford AND EVEN Faulk into coverage?

That was befuddling to say the least.

Hank did everything and more you could have hoped for. Does he have some things to work on, sure, but far, far better than expected.

The whole team seems to perk up and perform better when he is in.

Hank looked rattled a few times but mostly seemed poised and in control. Not bad for a red shirt freshman. This kid is a keeper.
Towns McGough is great. He has a strong leg and can kick long field goals.
Defense needs work but Eugene Asante played well. We need a few more of him.

Hank exceeded my expectations for a first start. Even considering the competition. Was great to see him stand in the pocket and deliver the football. Example the completion down the field to P. Thompson. DL snuck through and crushed him low on that throw.

Defense in these first halves are baffling. 3-3-5

Once we kind of get into a 4-2-5 and bring any pressure we completely shutdown the other team

I thought Hank played outstanding. He didn't lock in on one guy. He had two incompletions in the second half and both throws hit the receivers in the numbers. He had a few incompletions in the monsoon, but hell. We are undefeated, in a convincing fashion, if Hank starts game 1. He did everything you could ask for, IMO. The O looked like what a Hugh Freeze O looks like. We score more if our D could ever get off the field. Our D SUX.

Durkin will be fine once he gets more dudes on the DL. People aren’t realizing how lacking in talent the DL is. Relying on A&M and USC castoffs isn’t going to work. They’ll get it figured out.

It's not just the DL. It's blown assignments. It's bad angles. It's missed tackles. It is a very undisciplined group...........as a whole.

ETA maybe dummy it down? There are times it looks like guys don't know where they are supposed to be.

Durkin didn’t forget how to coach once he stepped on the plains. I think he rights the ship if given the chance.

I agree. I’m interested to see how the rest of the year goes.

I give Thorne credit for being a class guy. Montgomery Advertiser article

quote:

Freeze said Thorne took the quarterback decision well and helped coach Brown throughout the New Mexico game. Brown completed 17 of 25 passes for 235 yards and four scores.

"He was a good teammate tonight and talking about things he saw," Freeze said of Thorne. "Hank checked to a man-beater on one of the third downs and it was not man. Payton said, 'This is how I think you can see it’s not man.’ So, I heard that conversation, and I thought he handled it well."

"I couldn't say enough good things about him," Brown said. "It tells me a lot about his character and who he is as a person, the fact that he's out there helping me out, guiding me with his experience and all that he has. Payton and I are super close and obviously we’re competing, but we’re also human.
