Keeping Mullen was accepting 10 wins a year with potential for 11-12 every now and then and a playoff appearance in the expanded format.

Problem is Florida thought (thinks?) they’re better/more deserving than that and idk that in the NIL era they are. Can’t just throw a rock and hit talent in the state anymore; those recruits have plenty reason to leave for more money elsewhere.

Too, Florida as a school admin is a fricking nightmare right now. Stricklin sucks at AD but they don’t have stability enough in the presidents office to make THAT change. Stricklin also isn’t totally off base with wanting to sink every dime into facility upgrades; Foley left them WAY behind in that respect

In a 4 week stretch his defense gave up:

49 pts to LSU
34 pts to UGA
40 pts to South Carolina
52 pts to Samford

This is after he lost to Kentucky & before he lost to Missouri

He wasn't terrible but was still an OC as HC and it went as one would guess.

But he was an awful recruiter who wanted to go to the NFL. When NIL happened it was the perfect scenario to help him be a good coach but UF said no we don't do NIL as the world passed us by. Then Mullen gave up giving a shite at all.

mullen was a good coach who didn't recruit well. Like Houston Nutt.

Yeah and that used to hurt your program.

But it was 2020, you didn't need to recruit at all. You just needed to open up the piggybank and UF said no.

Do you see Mullen coaching anywhere? He has no interest in coaching in the NIL era and it showed. Stop with lazy narratives.
