There were 3 commercial breaks after the 4th quarter 1:58 mark for Georgia Tech and Florida State

Having a 2 min warning in college football is lame.

I have spent the off-season not having to watch commercials and it’s almost unbearable

The commercial break periods in the FSU-GT game were long enough for me to get my car washed, mow the lawn and take a 5 beer nap before the game would resume.

It seems to me there are less possessions compared to normal albeit a small sample size.

But if true then more games will be closer and this might allow some steals/upsets.

Its more commercials for sure. The 2 million warning ruins game flow and momentum as well.

This is part of what I seen. Less possessions yet more commercials.

How long were those Steve Spurrier games in the 90s? Had to be close to 5 hrs.

They’ll use streaming games that aren’t on broadcast/cable to pull down the average.

I bet CBS is going to absolutely love the returns on a 4 and half hour Purdue vs Illinois and Michigan state vs Indiana matchup.

Dumbasses run that network.

I cannot believe I was not aware of the 2 minute warning change. What a lame change.

NIL. It’s very expensive to pay for this product.

116 plays TOTAL in this game.

They’ve ruined college football in so many ways. The following games featured more run plays than the Florida St-GT game and still had the following total plays:

2013 Iron Bowl: 132 plays (two run heavy teams)

2012 SEC championship: 135 plays

2019 LSU-Alabama: 147 plays

I remember when Gus said his goal was 85-90 plays per game. No way we ever see that much football again.

The added commercials were definitely noticed.

You are really going to go with a 4 game sample size to start this discussion?

It is the entire body of evidence for the 2024 season thus far.

I think this season has the most rule changes impacting the time/speed of the game than we have had since the introduction of official review.

3/4 teams ran less plays per game than last season. Nevada was the exception and their team was overhauled from last season. SMU was closest to their average which isn't surprising with who their coach is.

Hawaii and New Mexico's stats weren't logged probably because they were playing FCS teams. Not my chart, I just screen shot it.

I am looking forward to seeing the numbers after a full slate of games.
