On Thursday, the program announced that it'll unveil the Final Four banner and launch up the Coleman Coliseum rafters on Oct. 11 at 8:30 p.m. CT, which is 17 days before the Rocket City Classic charity exhibition against Memphis and 24 days before Alabama’s season opener at home against UNC Asheville. Tickets for the ceremony are $10.

Don’t mind it.

For some reason Final Four banners seem fine in Basketball.

Just hope schools don’t start doing it for football with the playoff

They don’t do it in baseball either. There seems to be a big deal about it in basketball. Even sweet 16s and elite 8s. But teams catch hell for losing in the first or second rounds.

Which is weird.

You could argue a SEC West Championship (especially during a certain period of time) is just as hard as winning an elite 8 game.

But one feels weird taking credit for and the other doesn’t.

Probably, recruits like the idea of going there.

I assume this is going to be part of it going forward. NYE games were always kind of like the Final Four in CFB and they've gone a step further.

Some programs will, some won't. I don't think many in the SEC (as far as the Big 6+OU/TX goes)

Meh, it’s cool if it happens but that’s not the ultimate goal. But I have nothing against anyone who thinks it is.

I honestly think it's because those rounds have "names" lol...sweet, elite, final.

I can see this becoming a thing now in football...at least the "Final Four"

Bama’s teams in 2020 and 2023 were better than last years’ team. With how they finished the season, no one saw the final four run coming.

That said - a number one overall seed one season with regular season and tournament conference titles followed by a final four - it’s a wonderful time to be alive.

It shouldn’t for football. It’s much harder for basketball considering there’s a much bigger tournament than football.

I’m pretty sure a lot of programs do.

Get used to it. It's been our nightmare and I'm glad it's over.

Since 2014, 28 schools have made a final 4. 15 have made a CFP.

33 have made it to Omaha and that’s 8 teams each year.

Meanwhile, ALABAMA's football runner-up trophy in the National Championship game is being used as a doorstop somewhere in the sports facility. The things we cherish and don't.

Agreed. And, to make it even more confusing, think about the Braves with all their NL East champions banners over the years. Doesn't feel weird seeing those

Because you've made the playoffs, then won no fewer than 4 games against other teams that also made the playoffs.

Agreed - unless they expand the field to 64, but that opens up a whole new can of worms.

Let football banners be for championships (conference, national) and basketball for both championships and deep runs in the tournament.
