We have been told by site ownership to move away from pinned megathreads, sans recruiting.
I know megathreads are a divisive subject here, and have been for a decade, so some of you will be happy with this news while others will be upset.
Boz and I didn't make this decision, but we're going to roll with it.

I'm sure this is because pinned megathreads hurt website traffic and turns away prospective new posters. People will go to their board, see no new topics or months old posts on the front page, don't check the megathreads where the conversation is actually happening, and then leave without saying anything. They end up elsewhere, a different site which they believe is busier and will have more conversation.
I understand the intent behind pinning megathreads, but I think in some ways it discourages discussion.

I like this idea. What's the point of a football board (this is a football board let's not kid ourselves) if all football posts take place in one thread?

I hate megathreads, most notably the basketball season thread.

They never did. For the people who didn't like Megathreads, instead of making a new thread on the topic they were interested in, they typically just went into the Megathreads to complain about the Megathreads 
.
I don't care, I was more into the Megathreads for the joy of the high post counts, but I generally have no interest in starting new threads so I will likely just wait for someone else to post news instead of trying to get it here quickly and as a whole end up posting less.
What is funny to me is that once any thread reaches a 2nd page many on here can't be bothered to read any of the previous pages.
