Can anybody give me pointers on getting my son’s name out there? He’s going into his junior season at 6’5” 254lb left tackle right now. I have the NCSA people bothering me and I’m not sure if they will help me a lot. I’m not bragging on my son at all just need some direction here, I’m new to this. Thanks!

Camps and summer 7v7 tournaments is how my son started getting offers. Also if your high school doesn’t have a designated recruiting coordinator by now, transfer him to school that does. Most schools have them now, and should be helping you.

Congrats and yes go to every camp available regardless if he has interest in the school hosting the camps.
Work on foot speed drills daily, box drills even if it cost him a few pounds in the beginning. Get him with a physical trainer that does a lot of plyo’s and speed and agility. He will sky rocket because of his feet.

I’m definitely taking him to some camps next summer, Auburn camp for sure and possibly Alabama camp.

I would also recommend consulting a sports nutritionist to form his nutrition requirements to be at his peak performance.

Do you have X/twitter? If so find me on there and send me his tape and I’ll pass it on to people I know at different schools in the south. Username is @smuphy

We still have to put together a tape, that will happen soon. Thanks!

Meeting and making a connection with one coach And getting your first offer is the most important thing it doesn’t matter if it’s a school you’re uninterested in. You get your first offer others will follow even if it’s division two or NAIA. Summer camps are the best chance for you to meet and create connections. If his High school coach has connections that’s great, but I would start by looking at the most regional schools and by getting Juco offers. Also if he has any teammates that are at that level camping as a group always helps in my opinion. Also when he goes he needs to dominate the 1v1 session and do everything he can to be put in the best group. It’s obvious when they split the groups up. I would always weasel my way into the best one on ones and get the most reps I could. Stuff like that catches a coaches eye.

Also I’d tell them he used to play Tight End. Coaches love to see that kind of stuff.

Is NCSA worth looking into, he sent in an inquiry online and they have been borderline annoying. Seems like they are just trying to sell something.

They help get his name out there for sure, but I don’t think all the extras they want you to pay for is worth it.

I personally don’t think NCSA is worth it. I’d rather spend my money on FBU or traveling to other elite camps.

I started following you on X yesterday and I will send you some tape when we get deep into the season. They are running a spread read option offense, looks a lot like Gus’ offense.

Definitely consider looking for last year's tapeworthy material as well and just start with last year's stuff, also consider going to several more camps outside of the state even/florida/etc. Florida probably has a high nationwide exposure, since a few well known facilities are down there. Camps afaik is what starts to really get kids their stars as well as on the field performance.

Update on my son, he’s up to 283 lbs still 6’5”and his head coach doesn’t want him over 285. Now the good part his head coach pulled him aside at lunch to meet with a UAB coach and they are going to start evaluating him and his current head coach told UAB a lot of good things. All this just happened today, I’m definitely a proud Dad, senior season this fall should be epic.
